10/16/2024 Progress Update: More Art and Future of the Game

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another progress update! It’s been two weeks since the last one, so I thought it would be a good idea to update everyone on what’s happening.

First, the art for the sprite is going very well! The artist has currently finished the base form for the male and female versions of Ethan and will get working on the in-between sections and longer hair. The artist sent me some of his progress, and you can see it below.

Secondly, background art has been commissioned as well. There are artists currently working on three backgrounds. The exterior of the high school, Ethan’s bedroom, and the Autumn Festival. The art of the current progress of the exterior of the school can be seen below. By the way, you will be able to redecorate Ethan’s bedroom later to be more feminine if you want!

Lastly, the future of the game. I’ll start with the future of the art of this game since we’ve talked about art a lot. The ultimate goal for the art in this game is to have many outfits for Ethan’s sprite, and have most of the transformations and player choices represented in some way. For the background art, I’m planning on replacing all the current background art with original commissioned art.

As for the writing, I’m currently debating what to do with the pace. If you’ve played 0.03, you know each day is about 10,000 words. If we extrapolate that, this game would be 1,800,000 words long. But with the many club options and branching paths, this game might become 5,000,000+ words at its current pace. This will mean this game will take a long time to complete. I will run a poll later on what you all think of the pace of this game, please give me your thoughts! I’m not sure if you all like the current slice-of-life feel of the game or if you’d like to get through things faster.

Also, you already got a hint of this in 0.03, but there will be 5 main routes. You will be able to go for the academic route, cheerleading route, magic route, theater route, and art route. You’ll be able to test out some of these routes but eventually will have to commit to one or two.
