Post 279: A Witches' Halloween, p4

“Thanks, Jamie, for the weather report,” said Alicia Ray, filling in as anchor for Channel 5’s 11pm broadcast and looking into camera one, “I guess we need the rain. Sounds like a good  weekend to go catch a movie. Wouldn’t you say, Aly?”

“For sure!” said the blond co-anchor seated to her right. Aly Singleton smiled, feeling strangely giddy in the presence of her co-worker.

“So, let’s get back to our top stories,” Alicia continued, turning to her left as the red light on camera 3 blinked to life. This was easy, this made her feel good. Thousands of eyeballs were now on her, she commanded the attention of all their late-night viewers, and she felt like she was exactly where she should be. She’d been given this job temporarily when Blake Rubens came down suddenly with that haha mysterious cough earlier in the week. It could be a stepping stone for her, she’d hoped, towards the morning lead anchor position. Mark Vallens, who currently ran the morning desk and had done so for nearly 20 years, was already talking retirement. Wow these treatments work quick! she’d marveled. She really wanted that job!.

“Many reports of weird happenings in the city on this Halloween night,” the ex-pageant queen continued, meeting the gaze of camera 3 with confidence. Sit straight, tits up, she said silently, but could already feel herself settling naturally into her new role, the eyes of their wide viewership falling to her full chest. This next story, she’d been told, had to be handled properly. ‘Don’t get people too worried’, they’d told her over the phone, ‘stay casual’. She could do that, she could make it sound fun. Some women they were calling ‘witches’ were up to mischief, and it was her job to help with damage control. The people needed her, the movement needed her. She was important, and there were big plans for her. .

“Earlier this evening the city was treated to a nice little treat,” the busty news anchor began, as the image from one of Channel 5’s rooftop cameras appeared behind her and the teleprompter began to roll, “as you can see, the river apparently changed to a pretty shade of pink downtown. The new color lasted about twenty minutes before returning to normal. Authorities suspect a prank from one of the local colleges but the cause of the change is still unknown. As is why all the flowers in the park mysteriously blossomed this evening…”

“…Roses, flowering bushes, everything in the gardens treated the city to a springtime display in October. Park officials are baffled, and blame global warming.”

“That is so weird!” chirped Aly, to Alicia’s right, “But I love flowers, and the river did look pretty!”

“Haha I know, right?” Alicia laughed.

“It’s too bad it didn’t last, the pink river,” Aly continued, “I have some cute heels and magenta lipstick that would’ve matched!” Gee Alicia’s perfume is really nice. I have to ask where she got it.

“Oh that would’ve been cute!” the shapely brunette answered as she stood from the news desk, treating her viewers to a shot of her body, “Moving on to our next story…”

“Jesus…” whispered the cameraman to the sound guy, as he tracked Alicia’s broad hips in her tight pink dress rolling across the studio, “do you know how many guys are jerking off to her right now?” She’d put on a little weight recently, and damn did it go to the right places…

“This just in. Perhaps the strangest reports,” she continued, as she settled in front of the green screen...

“...are multiple unconfirmed sightings of three giant, ghostly women walking down Lancaster Boulevard downtown in - get this, Aly - Hooters uniforms! We hope to get some pictures or video soon from our viewers but eyewitnesses tell us the three women, which apparently seemed to be some type of hologram, were several stories tall and casually strolled down the street for five blocks before mysteriously disappearing.”

“Wow!” Aly laughed, as the camera cut briefly to her, “New waitresses at the restaurant in Wellspring? They’ll be super popular!”

“Haha maybe!” Alicia agreed with a convivial smile, “No comments yet from the restaurant’s management, but officials suspect some sort of publicity stunt to celebrate the new change in ownership.”

“And for our last Halloween-night story,” Alicia Ray continued, turning her shapely torso smoothly to her left, “This one is maybe the most disturbing - three teens in Northville have gone missing while out for some trick-or-treating…”
