Test units can be used for a variety of tests, from environmental to live weapons tests where the unit is expended.
Expenditure is rationalised by the determination that it improves operational capability.
The uniform is white and very revealing. It is intended that minimum coverage allows for accurate assessment of physiological factors with minimum intervention.
White is chosen as it is a typical lab color.
Test units are referred to as Lab Units...a take on Lab Rat.
