Operation Mallera-Deep. (Spoiler Alert)

I have not attempted to make the final book covering the Apex wars due to Ayla being unable to shoot again. Poor girl has been sick and we needed to get her confidence up shooting last time. Which she was amazing, but I feel Covid will put a stop to it in the immediate future. But I am working on a new issue separate at the moment. But in the mean time for those who need closure on the Apex Wars - Here we go. 

The Zuvic incursion had left Black Faction extremely weakened, thousands went down with the facility but the success prevented Zuvic from getting a foot hold in the zone.

Fast forward & Jayda was required to take a special Azologoth, the special Azologoth possessed a different special type of Neon Dark.

Jayda was a ladder climber, evil and brutal. She wanted to be in the high positions next to the Mistress.

Ayla, the super soldier she was , was responsible for the Zuvic facility going under. High performing & very lethal she had for some reason never been advanced through the ranks. 

Knowing she was high performing, Jayda selected her with some other squads to take the Azologoth. But she was at the end of her contract & Jayda wanted her gone for a few reasons.

No.1 To Cancel her payout & save money

No.2 & most importantly - so Jaydas success in getting the Neon Dark would not be attributed to this outstanding combatant Ayla. 

Ayla's ORC chip becomes inactive, Ayla goes rogue, big skirm ensues and eventually Jayda gets the Special Neon Dark.

What is this special Neon Dark? It can be synthesised with human DNA to enhance physical capabilities, but also stop Azologoth attacking who is injected with the serum known as APEX Serum. 

How this happens? Azologoth are appendages of inter-dimensional creatures, stemming across the multiverse. The enter via rifts, invade the ecosystem in the immediate vicinity of the portal & begin to collect material from the new dimension.

In each dimension they enter, by Nature the most curious creatures are the most intelligent. Capturing subjects they tap into their minds, collect their genetic information & store them in complete stasis. At times a victim may be consumed wholly for energy, where they absorb into the walls. 

It is not an intelligence but more or so a trap. A trap of a logic beyond our understanding of reason. 

The radiation is designed to kill off non re spawning members of sentient species, unknown to humans, there is a common trait shared among other intelligent species. It seems that many exist in a form of duality. 

Collecting the information of each species allows the Azologoth to adapt, grow & change to its environment. 

The special Azologoth was one in its first steps of evolution. A step towards heavens knows what. 

The Mistress knew that the removing the energy yielding component and isolating the  bacterial like structures and then recombining them once injected into the human body would allow the mitochondria like microbes to enter the cells of the new host, & the Neon Dark to disperse & absorb into calcium to provide the microbes energy. 

This makes an Apex Unit. 

The Mistresses Apex Plan is out of desperation, like a wonder weapon. She knew a deep secret. 

Every body swallowed by azologoth was pulsed into sacs deep underground. 

If she could March down there with dozens of Apex Units to release them, she could cycle them into service for her, raising an army of tens of thousands in a matter of weeks, smash CPD and Zuvic out of the Zone & control Maller-9 and all Neon Dark production herself. 

Ayla stole the Apex Serum. Destroyed much of it & only a handful of units were administered it. 

The Mistress regardless, launched the operation. 

Mallera Deep

Deep below the surface are concrete tunnels and caverns used to channel sea water mainly for cooling purposes for the experiment. 

Much of the sea water that would have been exposed to the radiation from the experiment was thought to be contaminated, so the caverns led to compacted rock to be slowly absorbed below the earths crust.

The rift instead swallowed all the seawater that dumped down there, but much of the structure remains. 

The deeper you go, the hotter it gets, the more decayed the concrete becomes. 

It is infested with Azologoth down there. Any previous missions go missing. The rift at times spikes flares also, when one touches a person, they dissappear.  

Jayda deployed a large amount of units initially, although when CPD attacked & shortly After, Ayla began to cut through her forces she panicked. Pulling her Apex units out & thrusting mass numbers of Standard Combat units down there. 

With no guidance, no way finding and almost no purpose, wave after wave ventured down there with nothing more than orders saying secure the area. 

Except the area required 100,000 plus units, where Jayda had less than 10,000 on hand.

Initially the first lot of the first waves were scooped up by Azologoth bursting from walls, below and above. IN the dark they could not tell what was going on. 

CPD had sent large numbers also, but had set up positions to defend, rather than be mobile they dug in.

When Jayda really hit her panic button she directed everything she had available to proceed down where ever they could. In some areas, un controlled advances has Black Faction Rotundas opening fire on other Black Faction Rotundas wiping each other out in the darkness.

Loss of communications deep below left ORC semi functioning, with groups panicking returning to the surface only to have their ORC re-engage sending them back down. 

The Chaos of Mallera Deep ended with Jayda being hunted down by Ayla and killed after which the Mistress herself ordered her surviving units who heard her transmission to return to the surface. 

She could not risk losing them all and be extremely weakened. 

Many were left down there, to fight out their last moments off ORC in the dark against CPD units in the same position.

The deep dark secret was that when released from the Sacs, the women who had been eaten simply wanted to be re-consumed as the pleasure of being inside the Azologoth was unrivalled.  Waking to reality was really waking into a nightmare. 

The biggest monster on Mallera-9 is not the Azologoth.

Its the Mistress, its Caterina, Its Kader Zuvic, Kaiyo Tanaka, Jayda, all of their leadership who wish to march them, diet them, control them, sacrifice them for a $.

Jayda was in control of the operation, she knew what was at stake, she threw everything she had at it.
