These units are highly elite, not quite apex, but damned hard trained, well equipped for fast hard hitting missions.
They are expensive and hard to train, plus carry alot of very expensive equipment. SO they are not expendable in the eyes of black Faction.
They might be worth 3500CR to train, 10x a standard combat unit.
But the real cost is much higher due to the infrequency of suitable candidates for the role.
About 1 in 150 qualify to try out and about 3 in 10 make it through the selection process & training.
Out of the 70% who fail, about half are eliminated during the tough selection process.
The remainders are cycled back into the regular ranks.
so to get 9 ECU units-
about 4500 recruits are needed for the selection numbers.
then out of the 30 put through training, about 10 will be eliminated, costing about 3500CR in lost units.
10 are kept and cycled back through
and 10 make it through to become an ECU-
So the real cost is in the range of 5000CR in total per unit.
