Here PMPerfect helped layout landmarks as well as logic for the areas around Gateston:
Here’s a little screenshot with some progress on the mountains in the area:

Jugger is making an UV here. It’s essentially a technique used to "wrap" a 2D image texture onto a 3D mesh.

Vils has started working on a wiki for the Erokin lore! Soon enough you will be able to read every single detail about everything in the world
Heya gamers! I’m finally taking time to work on Erokin again fulltime as I’m waiting for assets in Neon Nights. To get back into the swing of things, I took some of the work I had done a few weeks ago and started the required steps to make them actually playable in game. Part of this is lighting.
When doomscrolling twitter, I found this incredible Artist aokkade and I had to take some inspiration from their work. One thing I really like about their work is the lighting. Turns out they render in Unreal too btw! Above and below you can see the result of that! ^-^
I really like the line of light! It gives a great contrast with the hard cutoff between the bright and dark area. This combined with the super widely opened eyes and strong grin gives this really strong yandere vibe, love it! ^-^
I also finally figured out a reliable way to make the camera follow a bone on a character. While you can’t directly target a bone as a target for the camera to follow, you can make an invisible cube follow a bone and then make the camera follow the invisible cube. Workarounds! :D
Horse cock dildo! Need I say more?
Eris will make good use of one during her lessons teaching Alda the ways of the church! c:
After that, I gave into my desire to remake the gloryhole area of the church prison. It wasn’t used as a playable area yet so you might not really recognize it, but it was already part of the 0.5 version. You just couldn’t walk there I think. While I liked the idea and general layout, I didn’t quite vibe with the lighting and architectural specifics like the ceiling and the way it looked abandoned. After ripping out most of the assets, I redid the area. The orange tint that the candles give the level has been a bit of a pain. Interestingly making lights orange actually removes a lot of color from the environment. We found this with tinting lights in general. Giving the environment another light color than orange is difficult with lighting it only with candles though…
But then I got an idea! ^-^
The ceiling has holes that let sunlight in! This way, we get white light that creates a beautiful highlight! Below you can see before/after of the environment I reworked! c:
After deciding that I’m done on the gloryholes area, I began reworking the adjacent area. Before there was simply a hallway and a sort of bedroom. It was never really finished by pmperfect. Again, I ripped out all the stuff and this time I restructured the design. Now instead of a hallway, there is a storage facility. I was thinking that the church is storing a ton of melt in there! c:
Passing through the storage area, you get to a room that was divided into 3 partitions that serve as bedrooms. I was thinking that the church converted the room into this after it was built, not initially intending for it this way. Maybe the servants handling the training of the elves live here? My plan is for Alda to get a room here in 0.6. Basically an upgrade from her cell now that she isn’t really a prisoner anymore! ^-^
Lastly, today, I’ve been working more on a new workflow I wanna implement for our scenes! Super excited about this one! Basically, I pose a character using bones and then sculpt over it to add anatomical details! I’m certainly not a professional at sculpting anatomy, but even with my very limited knowledge and skills, I was able to (in my humble opinion) greatly improve the pose! ^-^
And lastly, I wanted to share a little mockup that didn’t make it into the final layout of the gloryhole area. I think it looks super cool but it would very much have taken the focus away from the actual gloryholes! xD
I’m sure I’ll use this visual language in the future though! ^-^
