Neon Dark.

Well it is almost 3 years since we did the first Neon Dark Shoot!

So the story goes I contacted the photoman after seeing some of his work. I went back & forth with how we could make this happen.

I got the costumes and he prepared a space in a warehouse he part owned (other business) to shoot. The prop guns were a hurdle & he was lucky to find a gel blaster store near his warehouse that could provide a large amount at a cheap price.

I wanted bull pup to be able to write in the story how they operate etc. He come back with a heap of Steyr AUG, which suited it quite well.

Other items were scarce, the boots budget was tight, we went with stockings, I had a beret & he had a seamstress alter a bodysuit. Those masks are quite expensive!

Budget I allocated to get the first novel off the ground was eaten up by costumes, props and other equipment plus we needed to set aside a bit for our two actresses, The ladies who played Ayla & Jayda.

The next hurdle was girls & where to get lots of them. Being a photographer photo-man was quite in demand, so he cut a deal. Strippers & waitresses could come & get amazing portfolios for free from him & they played Neon Dark girls.

I had wrote the base line of how the series with Ayla would go - Aybss of the Azologoth, then Black Faction Storm, Operation Apex, Mallera Deep the descent & the final & yet to be published, Mallera Deep Pasither (I want this to be the first printed book).

But if Abyss of the Azologoth didnt do well, then I call photoman tell him thankyou for the help, keep the costumes & I will quit.

Well Abyss of the Azog did well, much better than I expected & I immediately put the gears into motion to make the 2nd book.

The Patreon also began to do well & after the second book was produced I made the first commitment, signed a two year lease with photoman & moved into our first dedicated studio in inner Sydney.

The space in the warehouse was limited and not private, as photoman put it, if delivery come and there was girls there it got uncomfortable very quick.

The new studio was a small, crampt space that no one here really seen, because it sucked haha. But its where we made some incredible magic.

As we worked away with the space I began to expand the universe, ad different elements and new costumes. At this point

The crowning achievement being the Zuvic Incursion, which was shot entirely on chroma key paper.

But it presented problems, while private it did not have its own facilities, it was small, we could really only shoot on the green paper and nothing else and worst of all for Australian summer the heat. I was there once during a shooting, photoman running around doing things, and just sweat pouring off him, pouring off girls, it was hard..all because air conditioning broke and the lease we had signed did not cover repair. The old building was high and required special equipment to conduct work which was going to cost so much money. (5 or 6k) we pulled the pin last summer, and began scouting for a suitable location.

I inspected some but then had to come back to America & left the photoman to find himself. He found a brand new, air conditioned warehouse for a very reasonable price and lots of space.

We signed the lease and find our selves where we are now!

We have set pieces now that can be reconfigured,

we have a large green screen wall

I have a custom made green screen crash mat on the way to go with the green screen wall, rope rigging and body harnesses from the roof!

the coolest thing is the green screen foam pit that is currently under construction & I hope to have ready in a few months, still sourcing some more green foam and side buffers, plus some other work on the platform. but stuntwoman took a look and said we went safety overkill with depth which is a bonus.

Soon will be having large custom set pieces cut, I have plans to have some made like bunker entrances and moved via van or truck to outdoor location for site shooting.

We have so many boots, so many costumes, so many guns now and so many different characters aswell. This is thanks to many of you aswell!

The best thing now, girls love it. you do not understand, they message me and photoman on instagram asking how they can shoot, or how much do they have to pay to shoot with us.

We always pay our girls now! no one performs for free.

I explain to them, this is a kink called zako, men love faceless henchwomen or evil soldiers fighting and dying. Their response is generally "thats so cool!"

they love the sexy costumes, they love the theme.

Trust me when I say, all of the girls who wear our uniforms, love it!

So for this three year anniversary of the beginning of Neon Dark, I say thankyou to each and every one of you.

To the next three years!

P.S my goal is a B movie
