Added 2020-03-24 14:59:41 +0000 UTCIn the Current era, the era of the Privateer Black Faction has managed to reduce the meaning of the Combat Unit down to a pure commodity on a command, high management level.
The mistress throughout her years, has worked on developing a systematic dehumanization of her human resources to the point of them being viewed as mere objects.
This has seemed the theme throughout other eras, however there is an element of possessiveness throughout earlier portions. Mostly disdain for them from higher ups.
For instance the deliberate sacrifice and malicious ordering resulted in many being wasted.
But now the attachment is gone and the idea of the units failing tasks eliminated.
Let me explain.
In the past a squad could take a position, if they were taken out the commander would be irritated. But now, a commander would simply add more, understanding that the original supply was inadequate to complete the task.
This may agree with some conceptions you have of black faction already, but remember how vindictive jayda was? That is gone. Now it is just pure numbers.
So for the combat unit? Well no one cares in command. If they are trained, equipped and sent out then they should be able to achieve A. If not, then more can complete it.
Black Faction Combat Units are ruthlessly utilized for insane tasks. Often meeting demises inflicted not with vindication but by numbers.
On one particular Mission they needed to get as many through a small pipe to enter a pump station. It was between pump sequences and command sent 80 through. The chance that 20 would make it to perform the task was certain, but they split them among 4 different pipes to ensure they would make it.
60 made it, however one pipe squeezed tight, and the lead unit was stuck. The 20 in tow were trapped also,
Harsh being just a number isnt it.
But they do enjoy it
