BFC Squad Cycle

Resource management at a squad level -

Squads are generally supposed to be 6 to 12 units, depending on mission.

For the vast majority of operations this is more like 5 or 6. This allows commanders to spread their units over larger areas.

While heavy amounts are thrown in swarm like attacks. Most units are used in blocking , where they occupy choke points to deny or slow advance of enemy units.

typically a rotunda consisting of 4 to 6 full strength squads (12 units) can be split into close to 30 small squads. This gives greater coverage and allows units to be moved between squads when expenditures occur.

Blocking is essential for Neon Dark extraction as it spreads a large squad thin and gives the enemy something to chew through prior to reaching the extraction party.

The first picture shows an optimal squad in  a blocking situation. They proceed to the location to engage with enemy units.

The progression to the third picture indicates the squad down to 3 units. One unit can be used in blocking as it will still cause the enemy trouble.

The 4th and 5th picture show one of the units taken out while the other two continue fighting.

At this point the squad is restocked with a third unit. This is ideal as the blocking has been successful in preventing enemy access to the area and they can remain in place on minimum numbers.

The enemy is unlikely to attempt to proceed past that area and will try somewhere else.

The overall expending of 3 units on that squad and 2 others resulted in the successful extraction of Neon Dark Yielding over CR3-billion plus.

Enemy lost 2 combat units with no net benefit.
