If there needs to be information extracted then capturing or recovering a downed enemy unit may be of value.
However most combat units only know one thing, who to shoot so they often dont have information.
But leaving an incapacitated combat Unit may allow the competing faction the ability to recycle it.
Therefor most factions ensure they completely liquidate any enemy asset.
As for recovery its a combination of factors. Reco Packs are expensive, units take time to get back to working condition and it may require another unit to put themselves at risk to administer the pack.
Structurally a unit is two things.
No.1 a slot in the structure
No.2 a body that fills the slot.
Engineering principles have gone into the development of the structure.
There are "replaceable" parts in most machines.
Lets say a car, a car needs a certain amount of tyres to drive on the road.
The road is very dangerous and you constantly damage tyres.
The slot for the Tyre is the rim
The body being the tyre itself
Black Faction and CPD have analysed the road and found that it is more effective to use cheaper tyres than expensive ones.
The expensive ones take longer to make, cost more and can be popped by the same things that pop the cheaper ones.
Repairing a tyre, good or cheap leaves it structurally compromised also and requires time and effort.
Cheaper tyres in vast quantities can allow the slot or Rim to refitted quickly.
Damage to the rim can result in much of the rest of the car being damaged.
I will go into why command is held so high above the "tyres"
