However, your pay is significantly less than with CPD or BFC
A standard combat unit makes 3500 CR per day on contract!
But they stay for 4 years straight!
A Star Corp light guard can do two week stints or up to 3 months
But they make a measly 80CR per hour on duty. a days duty may be 8 to 12 hours.
Off duty they are housed on site with some basic media access, books and thats about it.
The advantage is they don't engage with Azologoth extraction or provide combat effect for clients.
Clients hire security for static work at key sites, the Star Corp Light guard stands there as a deterrent or "eyes and ears" for trouble where the client normally engages KTS to deliver combat effect.
Having fully trained combat units doing static duty was found to be less optimal for Shadow Sector (BFC really)
A well versed, combat seasoned woman getting taken out by an intruder while on guard duty was kind of wasteful
This way, the more disposable Star Corp unit can be taken out with no real operational loss. Combat response can be deployed to deal with the threat after
The high turnover of just a few weeks or months with minimal training plus the cost reduction can see more being deployed
