Walking away from the Mistress

She had heard in the outside world the emergence of Shadow Sector.
Vanessa had granted her freedom. Saved her life. Granted her untold wealth. Phaedra seen the good in her.
Even though Vanessa served evil means. So did everyone under her. Those under her were there to serve and sacrifice. The enemy was there to try to eliminate Black Faction. It was a struggle between two companies and Vanessa did what was necessary.
Phaedra as a standard combat unit was selected for her stature, 6ft 4 in heels, 200lbs muscled. Just what the 5ft 2in 95lbs Vanessa needed. However Phaedra's intelligence was a match for her brawn, finding an adolescence in Vanessa, while being highly competent and super intelligent, she needed someone to be able to tell her no. Phaedra could slap her and she would not retaliate.
Lani was rescued by Phaedra and was tasked to replace Phaedra once Phaedra left. Trials and tribulations helped her prove her loyalty to Black Faction, but her loyalty grew towards Vanessa.
Highly competent in combat, skilled in tactics she was personally selected by the Mistress to carry out a suicide mission, awarding her the Black Star.
She also awarded Vanessa the Black Star.
Greed got the better of her, the wicked old woman seen youth achieve in a matter of months what she couldn't in decades of conflict.
Lani ventured off into the wild on her own, aimless until Shadow Sector descended upon the zone, where fate would have it, her finding Vanessa and Phaedra again.
Fate brought them together, pulled them apart and brought them back together again.
So what is next?
