In the dystopian world of Neon Dark, the Mistress is sort of a Queen meets Kim K figure who many feeble minded women worship.
Serving her has a degree of clout to it. Among those aware of Mallera-9 that is.
But why become a fragger? Well its travel x 1000, going to a different dimension has all the appeal of backpacking around the galaxy. They know its certain demise but the adventure is too much to pass up.
Also, most come to terms with their likely demise service the Mistress. And they have little choice in the matter. Becoming a fragger gives them that choice, in the service of the Mistress.
But what is the un-desirable way to go?
Azologoth:
No one wants to be consumed by Azologoth. For the obvious reasons of being eaten alive and the fact that its of no real benefit to the company.

Being taken out at distance while standing guard is a nightmare for many, not because of being taken out, but the fact its kind of a waste of them. Atleast in Skirms they are useful.
Sublet:
When they turn up to their uniform fitting and there is a sublet uniform, they despise it. The fact that they are being sold off to some random contractor where they will more than likely get taken out, not in duty for the Mistress, really reduces their moral
