Contractors have quite a history in the zone. After the perceived withdrawal of CPD from the Zone, the Contractors were invited by the Mistress to begin work again.

The Zone is complex, underlying the massive operations between CPD and BFC were multiple markets where lone wolf type individuals could operate.

Short term contracts on combat missions were also a thing.

The most prolific contract work were spotters. Azologoth trackers who could slip into areas without attracting too much attention.

Usually former combat units with a decent amount of experience, they knew where to look, what to avoid and best of all, how to bargain for a location.

Often a whole squad, rotunda or cache of units searching for Azologoth worked, but it also attracted unwanted attention from the competition.

In the new operating model, the successful capture of Neon Dark is now an option for the Contractors/private operators.

The private operators can now purchase Sublets for Utilization in the extraction of Neon Dark.

They get a 10% share of the takings....which is one hell of alot of money, but they must pay for the Sublets themselves, lead the extraction and return the goods to Black Faction......

There are Standard Combat Units on standbye to support the return of the goods, however they are there to take the contractor out if she were to go back on the deal.

This removes command units from Black Faction, gives incentives to independent people and helps chew through the excess stock of combat units.
