Once Vanessa ascended to power she did achieve quite substantial strategic gains for the company.

Shadow Sector was formed behind her back with the help of Kandi for the Mistress. A substantial fighting force which was formed to carry out two main goals for the Mistress.

#1- Remove Vanessa and Lani from power-

Black Stars were awarded to both Lani and Vanessa to participate in one way missions where they would expend themselves serving the highest goals for the Mistress.

Lani completed her Mission with the upmost bravery and managed to recover herself.

But Vanessa knew the Mistress was just power playing with them.

The Mistress knew Vanessa would not carry out the Black Star Mission and had in preparation for over a year the formation of Shadow Sector.

Shadow sector was formed with the help of disgruntled commanders who hand selected viable candidates who displayed the necessary skill and traits to form a hard hitting fighting force that would punch through hoards of Standard Combat Units to eliminate Vanessa and remove her from Command.

#2-Kull SCU Numbers Down.

With the removal of CPD from the Zone, the large standing force Black Faction had was un-necessary and expensive.

Paying out early was an option, as well as maintaining the force. But the Mistress in all of her greed didn't want to pay anything to anyone.

Shadow Sector began attacking Standard Sectors with the goal of expending as many as possible.

Shadow Sector units operated off ORC, fitted with compliance devices that made order refusal lethal but allowed them higher cognitive function.

Heavy clashes occurred all over Black Factions operation sectors involving incredible losses.

In the end Vanessa eliminated the leader of Shadow Sector, Kandi in mortal hand to hand combat, effectively ending their reign. Which the Mistress called an insurrection by Kandi.

Vanessa returned control of the Standard forces and CPD re-entered the zone shortly afterwards.

Future Shadow Sector Plans.

The configuration of the shadow sector units was more aimed at improving Azologoth hunting missions and extending outside of the regular operating zones that are limited to hard concrete floors to areas with known liquid earth.

The helmets were for aerial drops, along with goggles. The compliance devices were there not only for compliance but short term rebreathers for units who go under liquid earth or into Maws of Azologoth to continue operating.

It was theorised that ground liquefiers yield Neon Dark also and that they could be reached by sending a sacrificial unit down to place it in a vassal attached to a cable to be pulled out.
