How Lani Faired. (Photoman)
Added 2024-05-21 12:43:49 +0000 UTCFor sometime now Lani has been learning the ins & outs of camera/lighting from me.
The way we shoot is unique compared to other stuff I have worked on in that we cram what is 10-15minutes of watchable footage into 4ish hours of Filming, that includes a break.
I have a great bunch of girls that come regularly who know how to roll. They know what to do, how to move, not to look at the camera, all that stuff.
But we are always having new girls through also and that's explaining what we do, how we do it all that. It would typically be in the range of 2 to 3 days filming for them to come out of their shell.
There is stuff they don't understand which I can understand why. "hey shake your body and make grunting noises".
So after seeing it editing together they understand what we are actually doing there.
Lighting sets all that have its own headaches.
There are limitations there, one hell of a lot. More than what Koreborger understands (with all due respect).
So in the morning Lani arrived gave me a coffee onto light set up, position, camera test, battery check, formatting, stills lights on, memory checks, script planning, wardrobe planning, not to mention she brought her own script too which aligned with Koreborgers so we were able to mash it all in.
Then its onto getting everyone ready, filming positions.
Then its business time
Everyone's dressed and got their props
The camera on the ready, time for first take.
Its all on you - pressure that we need to get this stuff done. There is the pressure of how much it costs. (thousands for those three hours).
Over to Lani and she took off.
I corrected her twice
Once with a drop shot and focus ring move which she nailed straight away
and the other with giving up a moving pan shot because its impossible with the equipment we have.
In terms of the shoot she directed the girls superbly. This is evident from being infront of the camera. She knows how to work it and thus, work the girls.
She got to experience battery frustration. Good she can see how it feels.
Watching the episode back what can I say.
Camera work is superb, not just for a first shoot either. Framing and following, use of blocking, foreground and depth work too were amazing.
Lighting fill was tops also which she worked with our spare soft light
My photographic style is born from an artform around the physique, use of lighting and flat muted compositions. This is why Koreborger got me on in the first place, I can shape womens bodies.
Lanis was a Dynamic into a more humanistic style, focusing on the body parts over the body form. Its close and personal. Jarring in a sense which conveyed a sense of personal chaos with the combatants.
It was an enjoyable watch for me, I can see why the fans like this.
she will only get better over time too.
But compare my first episode to her first episode and yeh, little intimidating now.

Am I the only one who read that as “How Lani Farted”?

It is obvious the trust you have in Miss Lani, and a credit to you for not only sharing the creative duties but also being there with compassion , support and appreciation. Miss Lani was noticeable from day 1 with her drive and dedication to perfection with stunts and dramatic scenes in front of the camera, which translated into badass characters like Commander Lani and my personal favorite the Identifier. The lady has a true ability to create differing personas with a change of hair , uniform or attitude. Her talents with technical innovations with editing have been amazing. And now she has ventured further in to the creative process with more titles to share as camera person writer and director. I know she's always gone above and beyond when called upon for tasks like organizing the uniforms or mopping a flooded studio. Thank you for giving this beautiful person the opportunity to flourish under your guidance. Like my friend S-x7 I do fear losing some on screen time of such a talent (I think this was a first video ever without a classic Miss Lani expenditure), but good things come at a cost. Thank you again boss! And mostly thank you and congratulations Miss Lani! I love everything you do and hope your world continues to bloom with beauty and that the trials be small. And mega congrats on your first amazing video production.
