Vesper - Lust & Hunger

All right, strap yourself in for this one. No pre-written promo post this time, just my raw first impressions of Vesper - Lust & Hunger.

Disclaimer: I played the game a few months ago and I know a lot has been added since, so my experience might be a bit different from yours.

The opening

So I played this game a few months ago and instantly got hooked by the amazing opening. You play as Vesper, a young reporter who's chasing down a young millionaire's daughter who has gone missing. Only to quickly find herself in deep trouble as the daugher (and her new boyfriend) are a little more blood thirsty than she expected.

The story

What struck me when first playing this game was how easily I became attached to Vesper. The story peaks your interest early one and then takes you on a wonderful rollercoaster as Vesper gets herself deeper and deeper in trouble.

After the absolutely amazing introduction, the story slows down a little and turns into more of a trainer game. Still, the following scenarios are just as well written and made me care not only for Vesper's story, but even the less important side characters. (I especially loved the chunky guy during one of the protitution events. Just cute and sweet writing all around).

Note that the game can feel a bit grindy at this stage though.

The art

Well... have you seen this pictures? It's good. It's really good and incredible plentiful. Seriously, the amount of art in the intro alone is staggering. Not just that, but it's very expressive, making me feel much more involved in the story and wishing for Vesper's safety and well-being.

I did notice the difference between the model at the home-menu and during the CGs. I think they're made by different artists and it's noticable enough to point it out. Besides that, you'll be viewing CGs 90% of the time anyways and the slight change in artstyle never bothered me too much.

Gameplay

After the amazing intro you get dropped into the meat and potatoes of the game. In overall it's a pretty typical adult RPG. You have a certain amount of energy that you get to spend on tasks each day to level you skills. Then when your skills are high enough, new events open up in the game.

When I played the game focused mostly on the prostitution storyline (which is very sexy and dare I say wholesome at some points). Since then the developer has put in new bartender, stripper and non sex related scenes.

They update their patrons at least once a week with what they're working on and I'm always looking forward to receiving a new update in my mailbox. Yes that's right, I support this game on Patreon as well! I think there is a bright future ahead of this game and its developer and I hope they can stick with it.

My experience

I think by now you will have realized how much I enjoyed playing this game. There are some small downsides that you need to watch out for however. Some of the skills had very little use when I first played the game, simply because there was no content for them yet. Unfortunately, the game doesn't tell you that there is nothing there yet, leaving you to raise useless skills which might force you to restart the game.

Besides that, I'd say gives this game a try. Even if it's only the opening. Then if you liked it, support the developer. I think they can achieve a lot with this game and I want as many people as possible to give it a try.

Wrapping up

So long story short, the game is good. Give it a try and let me know what you think. The developer is kind and very excited (even gave me a shout-out on their Patreon a while back) and I want to see them improve and grow as a creator.
