#2 Progress Report 2023/2/2

This is the second progress report for the game "Sister Virodar." In the past month, we primarily focused on fixing several bugs, improving overall animation speed, and adding features for key mapping and screen brightness adjustments. Additionally, I would like to share some ideas regarding new enemies and features!

Game Modifications

Thank you for the valuable feedback! Based on it, the following changes were implemented:

• The speed of most in-game animations has been increased by approximately 1.2 times.
• Camera movement during character left and right movement has been adjusted for smoother transitions.
• In the ESC menu, preliminary functions for key mapping and screen brightness adjustments have been added. The ability to navigate and modify options using keyboard keys has been introduced (although it's not yet perfected).
• A bug that caused the game to potentially black out after returning to the starting point following two consecutive game overs has been fixed.
• When the player's life reaches zero and the death animation plays, the camera now zooms in closer.

Despite these changes, there are still a few unresolved issues:

• Bugs involving enemy corpses falling through the floor and enemy models getting stuck have not been reproduced, suggesting that these issues may still persist.
• During testing, it was discovered that if the player is caught by an enemy when transitioning through a doorway, there is a possibility of the animation getting stuck in the ground.
  

Game Updates

Regarding new enemies:

Currently, I am working on animations for a Sister possessed by tentacles.

In my vision, she will be a more formidable enemy, moving slowly but possessing higher health and resistance to physical damage compared to regular enemies. 

Additionally, she will be more vulnerable to magical attacks. She is the first enemy to employ ranged attacks against the player. When the player uses magic attacks against her, the tentacles will react intensely, shooting out a tentacle sphere in retaliation.

Concerning new features:

We are experimenting with implementing a mechanism for item drops.

Currently, due to the absence of an inventory system, dropped items immediately provide recovery for health, magic, and bullet quantities upon picking them up, with no functionality to collect them temporarily.

Other considerations:

We are considering adding a life UI for enemies, providing damage displays after the player's attacks! 

Although the game still lacks voice actors, I have researched some ASMR and have potential candidates in mind for the voice roles!

Other Aspects

January was very busy with my main occupation, and I'll be away from the city for about half of February due to personal reasons. I apologize for the slow progress in creating the new animations. I hope to dedicate more time to game development after February. 

I aim to release a simple new game version in February, incorporating some of the mentioned modifications and optimizations to the existing game content.
