LOL I agree 100% Josh, they definitely made it underwhelming.

I didn't specify what Disney movie I was referring to, just in general what a musical from Disney is. 😅 Obviously I'm talking about the good ones.

I also think that Sirius is likely Fortuna and I’m thinking maybe the wrath the her husband gave her is a reference to his Fortuna got taken out. Petelgeuse, while in a rage, was tricked by Pandora into Stabbing an unseen hand through Fortuna, so maybe that’s the wrath from her husband she is talking about. But that’s just a theory. I actually have no clue.

Don’t do Re:Zero like that. Have you heard the new songs in recent Disney movies. I mean look at Moana 2, Re:Zero’s random songs are better than the entirety of that movie.

I wasn't really expecting the bard scene to be particularly good, but something about that just really really sucked to me. I'm such a huge sucker for music in fight scenes (I am a MASSIVE Symphogear fan after all), but this just felt so off. It didn't exactly feel like the song was coming from her, as it randomly contained drums and backing vocals, the mood of the song just did not fit a fight, and then all the people freed from the spell stood there to enjoy the concert as though there isn't a fight happening. On top of that, the song transitions into generic background music towards the end of the fight where you no longer even hear Liliana's voice at all. The final moments are just a normal chorus. At no point does it feel like she is there singing live to them. If you do music as a theme for your fight, do it right. Stick to just her instrument and voice, and make it genuinely feel like she's the one performing. If you want to add additional non-diegetic instruments then at least go the Vivy route and make the singing grow more intense, with occasional interruptions. They could have easily done that when the tower is falling, have her lyrics and instrumental get cut off partway as she is hit, then come back in strained as she regains her footing to continue the song. That one trick would sell the immersion. In this, the music continues perfectly fine even after she is hit, not even pausing for a second. What we got just doesn't actually feel like she's there singing in the moment. It just feels like a standard background song for any other fight scene. I get this is a VERY niche complaint to have, but this is one of my all-time favorite gimmicks in any anime. Mixing music in action has so much potential and is the core idea behind what's probably my second favorite anime ever, so it's disappointing to see it done poorly. I wasn't expecting much, but they could have at least cut off the song after the hit for a bit of drama. You can't just tread into one of my favorite concepts ever, do it so poorly, and then not expect a rant from me, lol.
