THIS WAS ALL GREAT INFO! so they might stay all day? Is it every day? How do days off work? Would a family have more than one personal chef?

Natey

Sorry if it seems a bit scatterbrained, but it’s a bit late for me and i just recently saw your question, Ritts. If you have any other questions about personal chefs, please ask and i’ll try to answer them as best i can.

Well, as far as being a private chef goes, it can be circumstantial. A private chef can mean that they work for a family as simply a chef that cooks for the family or person anytime they go out on their yacht, or they actually make breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. Sometimes they live with the families so that they’re always there to cook for them, or sometimes they drive there and cook for the family and then leave at the end of the day after dinner has been served and eaten. Another thing about personal chefs, is that they must have at least a couple years of education, either a 2 year or 4 year degree as a chef. They must also be able to know how to properly and safely handle food, (proper cooking temperatures and times for certain meats and raw foods) while knowing how to prepare dozens of dishes, though it is typical for them to specialize in one style, say one is very good with creating vegan dishes while another is good with making seafood. Personal chefs should also be aware of allergies that are associated with certain foods and ingredients, and should be addressed of any particular allergies that the family members may have, while also being knowledgeable of what to do in case of an allergic reaction. They must also listen to the family members if they have any sort of health needs or concerns and be able to provide healthy yet flavorful dishes.

Natey

Im not sure if it would be too much help, but im actually studying to become a chef in college right now. While i’ve never looked into being a personal/ private chef, i can at least give a rundown of what goes into being one.

I'm in IT and Marketing, but I'm friends with Executive Director of a local nonprofit. Let me know if any of that helps.

I know a bit about charity. Depends on what the charity does. More prominent the charity, the more PR and meetings you have to do to get money for the charity. Lots and lots of media work too!

TELL ME ABOUT IT

Natey

I'm not sure if this counts or not but I spent a summer helping my dad at a small farmer's market selling produce.

Xavious

Tell me briefly about both! 9 to 5? Weekends off? What does a day entail?

Natey

Bahaha well dang you pretty much answered my questions!

Natey

Woah just tell me everything about it!!!

I worked city construction and maintenance for a while, and I have multiple years of experience working directly with doctor's office receptionists and advocating on behalf of them in my current career. Feel free to throw me a DM on FA or whatever and I can answer questions or relay experiences.

I have a friend who works as a receptionist in a hospital/doctor’s office. Most of her day is taking calls, usually scheduling appointments. Lots of getting people to fill out forms and being the front line for complaining mothers and other sick people lol. I was briefly a receptionist (although not in a doctor’s office) and it can get stressful if you’re not good at multitasking.

LemonCthulhu

my partner has actually worked as executive assistant for several charity orgs, I can probably answer some questions with their help if you're curious!

I worked road construction as an engineer for a year. I now work as an engineer in pollution monitoring.

Michael

No, but I work at an airplane propeller repair shop :3
