I like this idea. It makes sense about how the story goes. Wizard Of Oz was the same thing from this story. Even Coraline does explain this even though that one's not a dream story. Coraline really finds the other world behind the door in her new house. Wondering if there's actually a Lost in Adaptation: Coraline.

2016-03-23 14:04:59 +0000 UTCI have to agree with you that it was a mistake to leave out parts of Wonderland and introduce Looking Glass material. None-the-less I can see why they left out the Duchess and her child abuse on the basis of it being too hard to balance the offending of sensibilities with being true to the original story. On the other hand I don't recall the film properly making clear is that many of the encounters in Wonderland (at least in part) revolve around Alice not understanding many of the rules and practices and sayings of the adult world. Carroll used this to question and poke fun at many of these adult conventions in a way I find delightful and I don't think this sly questioning of authority survives in the film. A pity if you ask me.

Alice in Wonderland gets often quoted when talking about self-identity, while Looking Glass is often brought up under the topic of Miscommunication. (Which is how I personally came to read them) And especially for kids and yound adults, questions like "Who Am I?" can become very hard to answer, especially while you are constantly changing. Also ... am I the only one that found the Mad Hatter and the March Hare kind of scary in both versions?
