Interesting, never realized that. I know this sounds like sarcasm but its not, I really loved the show so that might have clouded my judgement. It did have great characters and Dame Maggie Smith so there is that.

That approach to conflict resolution is not unique to romance fiction. The last season of Downton Abbey (as well as parts of other seasons) likes to solve conflicts, not by having characters do things, but by having a character go away and think about it off-screen. Then they return and go "Yeah, changed my mind".

I'm dying inside because I read Amish romance novels in my late teens. I actually think I might own a couple. (I'm refusing to go raid my bookshelf to find out.) Seriously, though, if you're a young Christian woman who is known to read, a lady at church WILL recommend and/or loan her Amish romance novels to you.

unrelated to this novel directly, but a great short story with one of the leads on the spectrum (and both leads non-white) is Can't Escape Love by Alyssa Cole. For those of your beautiful watchers that DO enjoy the occasional romance :)

A lot of Christian novels have a list of discussion questions at the end. Handy if your Bible study group wants to mix things up with some extracurricular material, I guess.
