Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Episode 3 REACTION!! (full watch-a-long)

Comments

I know I'm late.. but im a YouTube follower. But I was waiting for this episode....

Paul Leclerc

I know I'm late to the party watching you guys' reactions (not late to the party watching SOA though) so I'm currently watching your current ones and backtracking to these ones that I'm trying to catch up on. This is truly a heartbreaking episode. Opie is one half of Jax's anchor (Tara is the other) and to lose him in such a brutal way is really upsetting. I cry every time I rewatch this episode. The Jax and Opie dynamic was really awesome to see and I missed it once Opie was gone. The line that Opie says "I got this" is a very popular line that fans like to put on Opie pictures, SOA posters, SOA books, comics, Funko Pops, etc. when they request it from the actor, Ryan Hurst, for him to sign. I myself own a picture and Funko Pop signed by Ryan. I've met him and Charlie at a few comic cons. Very nice guys! In fact, I met them a few weeks ago at a comic con again in Salt Lake City and they were promoting their new venture, Neon Mango, which they both are co-founders of. Both of them are actually good friends in real life. After rewatching this episode, it's hard to get back on track at times. lol But great reactions!

Michelle Finerty

This is one of the most heartbreaking episodes of TV I have ever watched. When Op say's I got this ugh and Jax crying and banging on the window. It is just heartbreaking and you know something in Jax dies watching this happen. I loved the relationship between Opie and Jax, I wish the show had spent more time on it in some ways Opie was underserved but this is a tragedy. I sometimes stop on a rewatch because I cant watch this episode again and when I do I always shed a tear.

JR Reed

I feel like the closest we’ve come to such a visceral reaction to a death would be both Ragnar and Lagertha’s deaths. Yet the deaths in SOA, as per Opie, will hit much harder

RaeRae

I can’t watch Opie die. I always look away when I rewatch this episode. He was one of my favourites. I was the same as Nikki, just thinking about his kids made me ball my eyes out. I hurt for their family & all they had been through. I think Opie suffers the worst fate on the show. He’s the consequence of everyone else’s mistakes and misjudgments. Which makes it all the more heartbreaking. Ryan Hurst just played Opie so beautifully. Incredible actor. As painful & horrible as this episode is… it’s also one brilliantly written episode. The Pope & Jax conversations, their dialogue… WOW. I also understood why the writers chose Opie though because of what his loss will do to Jax’s journey. One of the things I just love about this show is when a character dies they leave a huge impact to the story overall. It’s never just used for the shock factor.

Jamie

BTW it wasn't because Tig killed the cop/cleaner. The "one Son has to die" was to make up for the Niner that was killed in the highway chase. Which was technically killed by Jax.

isthatchrisk

I really couldn't watch most of the Opie scene again, too hard

Annika

You need some Kleenex in your new room! Thank you for letting me watch you, I couldn’t watch that again.

Theresa M Kelly

Agreed, and it hurst still after so many years... 😭😭

Josip Buretić

If they watch this vid though, do it and then get off YT without looking at any other sidebars or thumbnails or you'll get spoiled for future seasons with other vids that are SOA related. There's a shit ton of them out there.

Rita Hunter

Talk about tragedy. Opies life is tragic as it gets. Sorry this one hurt nikki like it did. I promise it hurt us all the same

Brandon Greene

I didn't think I could cry anymore than I did the first time I saw this episode but I guess being pregnant and seeing Nikki crying like that would make it worse. I feel for you guys.. this is a hard one to get past!

Jordan Kirby

And in this moment a new Jax was born 💫 I wanna give Nikki a hug so bad because I felt her pain. I’ve watched this episode about a 1000 times and it breaks me every time 😩 Tara telling Gemma off will always be my favorite part of this episode. I’ve never seen Gemma so scared and that’s because she knows that Tara wasn’t lying. Throughout all of this Gemma has become an old lady in the eyes of Jax. Yes that’s his mom but she’s acted more like an Old Lady to Clay than an actual mom to him so in that moment she realized that she wasn’t the leading lady in Jax’s life anymore and she was disposable. Her whole life has been John’s old lady now clay’s Tara was such a boss with that line 😂 That’s my girl. Anywhoo great reaction y’all & Rip Ope 🤍 Ryan was so amazing in that role & Ope will definitely be missed 🥺

Shanice British

I don’t know any shows that get as dark as soa does as it progresses, this episode was and still is a tough watch

Teeelur24

ok guys, that was tough but you handled it well

John Jackson

Either way I don't think he would have enjoyed it

Kwame James

I feel with you Nikki 😢. Even after watching like the 10th time 😅

Markus Schormann

To get emotional ready for this reaction on my way to work I listened to Theo&Kim podcast "ReaperReview"about this episode(and I know probably you all know about that podcast but if someone did not check their podcast you definitely should)and I am on my way home now and right now I listening the episode where Ryan is the guest!!! Cannot wait to get home and watch your reaction

Josip Buretić

The best video on internet, I saw it so many times and still every time I watch it again 😭😭😭

Josip Buretić

He’s not exactly straight lol

C. J. Ramirez

It's been a decade and this episode STILL wrecks me. I cried right along with you Nikki. I'd love to see your guys reaction to this video. It's Ryan Hurst's farewell to Opie. https://youtu.be/WuojNLM16VU

Romarie

It was the 9ers on the highway, and also the dirty cop that Tig strangled with the chain after his daughter was burned to death in 5×01.

BXBulldog

I find it cute she thinks pope wants Tig stabbed he has a much worse ideal for anyone especially a straight man

Kwame James

Same, in fact I didn’t even remember that there was anything after that scene, I was surprised the episode kept going and I rewatched this not that long ago lol. My brain must just shut off after that scene.

NZ Hayley

Nooooooo! Brutal ending for such a good character. I feel like the show should have rolled credits right after Opie dying, because the rest of the episode was a blur to me. 😡😔

Daniel

Yes Opie did everything for SOA and especially for Jax even if he was not always happy with Jax's decision, and he lost everything because of SOA but he still decide to sacrifice himself for his brothers!! Jax telling that guard afterwards “I’m getting released. There’s nothing you can do to stop that. I’ll find out who you are and where you live. And then I’m gonna kill you.” gives me always chills I love Savage Jax!

Josip Buretić

He took one for a team that is partially why his frst wife and father died. Opie is gigachad

DevilJynx

I hear you! I have rewatched s1-4 at least 4 times. I never rewatched passed the few early eps of s6. I am committed to do it though this time. I hate endings I think.

Ashley

Opie was and will forever be my favorite character in any show that I have watched, I am still till today not over his death and every time I watch this episode and Opie said "I got this" I broke no matter how often I have seen this scene it always got me really bad 😭😭 Unfortunately because of the time difference this reaction dropped around 1:00 AM my time so I have to go to work now and then when I get home I can finally watch your reaction!!

Josip Buretić

Ps TARA BEING BOSS. Clay and Gemma being both equally toxic and destructive is just 😒 like you just met this guy, and you already dumped the Club drama and you beating a chick up ? She thinks she’s immune to consequences though bad shit has happened to her and it’s so annoying . 😒

Ashley

“SEND HIM over.” JACKSON CORLEONE. “Make men into kings.” Smooth. Ice. “I got this.” 🥲 Opie knew Jax was about to offer himself. That ultimate sacrifice. They both we’re prepared to for the other. This aired before Glenn. And Jon snow. Steven said Negan early on, was like, whelp. Not a bat, but…. Felt more brutal. Intimate. Jax’s reaction, screaming crying. Haven’t seen Nikki cry since Uhtred. Sorry🥲 y’all ! But also that is good because you know it’s such a rare well-told story seeing you both emotionally respond. The way they organically weave in plots to equal consequences worth the narrative, is also rarely accomplished 🥰hugs yall

Ashley

This isn't a spoiler This is logic if you watch the show There are a ton of key phrases that foreshadow I wont give it away But what Pope says to Jax as he walks out of the office

Mr. Don Keyballs

Same!! And a few more episodes to come…

Kiwigirljacks

Don't know if it was mentioned yet but the BTS video of Ryan Hurst (Opie) getting his beard cut after this episode is worth a watch as well. It was as emotional for him as it was for Charlie Hunnam (Jax) as a goodbye to the character. This show gets DARK.

Sneaky Poptart

Opie was one of the two wings keeping Jax grounded. Pope is the one in power, but that Warden has signed his own death warrent. I firmly believed Jax meant what he said when he vowed to kill him. RIP Opie Winston. son of Piney Winston, and now his ride is ended. Edit: I do feel for Tig since he was willing to take the fall. Dood has complet accountability for his actions, but I also found it interesting that you mentioned how Pope is like Negan. Killing Tig would be too easy, but killing someone else, it sends a stronger message. Negan knew this and so does Pope.

DevilJynx

i watched SOA before TWD, how to ''hate'' Ryan Hurst playing Beta as a vilain?i couldnt do it.

Christos Panagiotou

that video is so emotional

Annika

This ep and the penultimate ep to the series finale of the shield I won’t watch. I did watch the reaction and I knew it was gonna be…

jjayson

This episode and the penultimate episode to The Shield series finale are two episodes I cannot watch again. Kurt Sutter wrote both. As I said in these comments after the finale of season 3, Kurt Sutter uses everything he picked up on the Shield over the last 4 seasons of Sons. Rough ride.

jjayson

This episode plus the next one really effect my allergies. Honestly its the next 1 that is the rough one for me. Seeing Jax lose his childhood bestie is very rough for me personally. This not the same set of circumstances than for me but it was a very rough time in my life and I could not imagine the dark thoughts and self recrimination I would have if I watched my childhood friend get brutally killed in front of me Thank you for another great reaction, and I love how genuine you both are to the stuff you watch, and will agree with another poster who said it is the reason why I am subbed.

The Guy on the Couch

That always makes me cry more than the episode!

NZ Hayley

FYI, the prostitute Clay was in (said she looked familiar) was Ashley Tisdale

Annika

I feel like apologizing to you for putting you through this episode. It is one of the worst moments on TV. This episode was devastating Opie was loved by all. Even the cast was upset by the death and they knew it was coming. What makes me feel better about the scene was that when Ryan Hurst looked up at Jax behind the glass what he saw was most of the SOA supporting him and crying at their loss. It shows the friendship this crew had.

Squeak418

Same. I cannot watch this episode again. It took me months to get over it the first time and it’s so brutal I just can’t…. 😢

Kiwigirljacks

The only time I watched this episode was when it first aired, and when I rewatch the series, I always skip this episode. It was hard to watch the first time. Opie was such a loved character, and Ryan Hurst did an excellent job bringing him to light. Even though I just watched your reactions and not the episode, I still felt the pain that you guys had. This one was heartbreaking.

Maritza Navarro

PLEASE PLEASE watch this video … you have to watch it, it will help you heal from this episode. It’s Ryan Hurst and a few of the other SOA people saying goodbye to Opie in a very symbolic way. I know others have posted it (I posted it a week ago also in anticipation of this episode with the caveat not to watch it until after this episode) You won’t regret it!! https://youtu.be/WuojNLM16VU

Kiwigirljacks

The main guard you said looks familiar he was one of the main bad guys in The Purge 2, he drove the truck around with the apron on. And the blonde girl is Ashley Tisdale who was on Disney Channel shows and movies.

SAMCRO_89

Juice is the Theon Greyjoy of SOA lol

RaeRae

RIP OPIE 🙏

Spence______

Then their YouTube would get full of SOA content, could watch on Incognito maybe.

SeanThePrawn

I think it was the 9er and other guy that Jax and them killed on the bike that made Pope want a son dead.

SeanThePrawn

This episode is why I subscribed to your patreon

Alex Reinhart

I knew this episode would mess u guys up… Don’t tell anyone but I cried when I first saw it too!! Dope reaction! 😢

Rah29

...to reaching this episode, though I know I'll be devastated all over again.

Freddie Miles

OH HELL YES!!!!

Freddie Miles

i hate this :(

Ben Mogz

Your reaction was completely understandable. This is a very tough episode for SoA fans to watch. Opie and Ryan Hurst were certainly missed.

Silvia Ribeiro

I know it's upsetting but just remember one thing... it's just a show lol

rob

you wanna cry cry? there is a video on youtube of Jax and Bobby shaving Opies beard after his last episode maaaaaaaaaaan listen lol

Spence______

If you think this episode was crazy, you ain't seen nothing yet! Better hold on to something because it's a hell of a ride!

rob

I know you won't look it up do to the risk of spoilers, but there's a beautiful video on YouTube of the cast members cutting off his beard with a sword in a ceremonial way. Almost as if it was a way for everyone, especially Ryan, to say goodbye to Opie.

Matthew

Here's a very touching video of Charlie Hunnam (Jax) and and some of the other cast members gifting Ryan Hurst a sword and they each take turns cutting his beard with it. They had a strong brotherhood and were all very emotional about Ryan leaving SOA. https://youtu.be/xmaIx2MBoc8

Jacobb Castillo

Was dreading rewatching this episode lol when I watched the first time I was just dead silent throughout the whole scene and the rest of the episode. I couldn’t believe what had happened. Love this show, but hate this episode. Ryan Hurst is such an incredible actor and losing Opie was impossible to get over.

Nolan schwab

They can just search for this on YT: Sons of Anarchy - Watch Ryan Hurst bid farewell to Opie, it's 4min 17seconds long. It's just great to see how the cast bonded and became family. Charlie and Ryan became best friends.

Ashgar77

Been waiting for this one since the first episode. I could only watch it once and it absolutely destroyed me!! This is the moment Jax turned into Jackson.

Sydney Aucoin

Big hugs for everyone rewatching this one or watching for the first time. I definitely felt what N&S were feeling in that moment.

Candi Pickett

Last week I wanted to warn Nikki to have some tissues ready, but didn’t wanna give anything way. This is a rough episode.

Meggerz

This is the moment Jax becomes Heisenberg, he is not the same person once he turns away from that glass after opies final blow.

Alex

Yeah, but they have to be careful searching SOA stuff on YouTube because there are future season spoilers all over the place in there, whether in titles or thumbnails.

Rita Hunter

I knew this episode was gonna be hard on you both. Although, I've seen the rest I don't remember what happens, maybe we all need tissues to hand, just in case. RIP Opie

Angie Lewis

I've seen this episode several times, and it never fails to hit hard every single time I see it. To watch that lifelong friendship between Jax and Opie come to this kind of end. So heartbreaking. And it makes me loathe Clay even more, because all of it stemmed from his actions and his constant deceit. It's also scary how you can see the change in Jax's eyes. It's like Clay has managed to destroy everyone he's ever loved in one way or another. Great reaction, you two....but yeah, this one is tough as hell. RIP to Ope.

Rita Hunter

Ope's death is right next to Jon Snows death for me. Just heartbreaking

Brent Crowley

If you had to define a singular tipping point in this show, which you can't really, but if you had to anyway, this is it.

reytan

Same! Ive only rewatched it once!! You??

Ashley

RIP Ope... Sweet, giant teddy bear <3

Yisna

I watched SOA long before I watched GOT. This show, especially this episode, is why NOTHING Game of Thrones did upset me. I'd already had my heart ripped out by a TV show.

Crystal Sullivan

I’m dreading watching this episode again… this one broke me. I was utterly devastated and swore I was done watching the show…of course I continued to watch and continued to have more moments of devastation. The things we do to ourselves 🥹

Jaime K

Something I at least appreciate about this event is that Jax is never the same after it. I also hope you both watch the touching farewell they do for Ryan Hurst after this season. It's on YT and makes this hurt just a little bit more.

Ashgar77

This episode 😢😢. It’s ok Nikki. Everyone cried when they saw that part

Armani Taylor

on one hand i’m so happy u posted because UPS lost my package and i’m bitter. 🤣 BUT ALSO sad cuz its THIS episode😭😭

Megan

Not this episode 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Dustee Lodholtz

Not sure I’m ready to watch this 🫣

Candi Pickett

now Jax will never be the same character again. He died with Opie.

Alex

I recently just finished this show and remember screaming at this episode 😂😂, I stopped watching for a good day or two lol

Jaden

I was waiting for you both to watch this episode. Sorry you had to experience what we've been through.

Christopher Olson

Top 5 Ep you think of when you learned Steven and Nikki were reactions to SONS

Ashley

Time to hate watch this episode 😭

BiaN

Been waiting for this episode, heartbreaking 😭 Have to wait to watch it until after work 😭
