Only character i cant seem to accept is Max. Now i dont mean that she is a bad character, i like her intelligence & her manipulative nature but it seems like she is just incredibly lucky all the time, ever since & including her rescue from the beach/Hammond's cruelty. She has many enemies that wont touch her simply because they want to sleep with her or say she is indispensable when Anne Bonny easily gets info out of the 1 whore (charlotte) she ever asked. Every whore would tell Anne Bonny whatever she asks & Jack is more than capable of running the brothel being wise himself & having gone through his learning curve but Max is indispensable?? She's constantly driving a wedge between Jack & Anne yet neither one ever act against her. Eleanor coupd destroy her while operation with a word & without killing her but never does despite several inconveniences.. According to the rules of the show itself Max should be dead or flying way under the radar right now, not on top of the world with EVERYONE under her thumb.

I love how no action in the past has been forgotten. Eleanor stripped Vane of his ship very early in season 1 yet it's still a decision that hangs over her. Lowe's quartermaster wanted her help in that regard, too, and now Vane is saying you did it to me, do it for me now.

The dialogue on the show is Shakespearean. It's incredible. I love how the show makes me see each character's side of things. As much as I want to see Abigail freed from Vane's crew, I hate the way Eleanor goes about it. Although it is the best way to free her that will result in the least bloodshed and least damage to the fort. It's also a great twist that the gold goes from being the only way to ensure Flint's dreams for Nassau to now being an impediment to it. There's a podcast about the show (Fathoms Deep) that recently talked about the idea of past, present and future driven characters. Flint is consumed with his past and it drives his present actions. Vane only lives in the present, giving little thought to his future. Jack is consumed by the future and wanting to leave a legacy for himself. You can't express enough how good the writing is.

Both the dialogue and story construction of this show is incredible, it truly does throw curveballs like no other. Just when you thought things were calming down and the story was converging, plot twists galore. And they are all driven by character and consequences of past actions which again only the best writing can achieve. The ability of Silver to invent stories on the spot never ceases to impress me. Finally, I give you Captain Jack Rackham. That is all.

What I love about this show is I always see the logic on both sides even if I disagree with one. Vane unfortunately doesn't know that the Scarbourgh is parked 40 miles away just waiting for an order from England. I believe they have to try something else besides constantly trying to fight them off forever. However I completely see Vane's point of view given who he is. Sign of great writing.

ps The anti-monarchy sentiment was super high at the time. People didn't want to be under the thumb. So Vane isn't here to BEND THE KNEE ;-) He's the North saying: we are already legitimized and I will not beg. They don't trust the Iron Throne to keep their word w/ a pact, and neither does Vane on England.

Great ep! I'm reminded how y'all said everyone has needs. And the plan to partner with England, is not guaranteed to work. Vane gets that and needs security in this uncertainty.. They could double cross him at anytime. And the person who he loves the most, just did. AGAIN. I shipped them until this moment. I started disliking her.
