Also just remembered a story of a few of the cast getting drunk one night and losing the keys to their apartment. Sure enough Zach decided to climb up the outside of the building, onto their balcony where the door wasn't locked. He is Vane.

As mentioned already, Flint's "What the FUCK did you think was gonna happen!" is another classic. If we're talking other favorite lines so far... I mean just based on delivery for each of these... Flint: "Everyone is a monster to someone. Since you are so convinced that I am yours, I will be it." Vane: "Mr. Holmes doesn't work here anymore." Flint: "Fuck Benjamin Hornigold, his king, and their pardons." Silver to Eleanor: "I don't know how else to say this except no. I suppose there's fuck no. Or fuck you." Anne: "I can't be your wife Jack. But you and I are gonna be partners till they put us in the fucking ground." Billy: "What's the target, captain?" Flint: "Whatever's left." And who could forget, from the second episode: "Fruit. Fruit. Tits. Tits. Plant. Plant. It's the fuckin' same!"

2021-08-29 05:50:10 +0000 UTC-The actor who plays Vane insisted on the "Fuck you, Jack" and I'm glad he did. It was the perfect thing for Vane to say. -The show got to play with real history a bit because the real Woodes Rogers did blockade Nassau and the real Charles Vane sailed a burning ship at him to break the lines. -The show is written like a novel. I love the reveal about Mr. Scott and his daughter, Madi, is amazing. -Flint is my favorite character of all time. He is so complex and wonderfully written and performed. And John Silver has an fantastic arc from where he began to now.

I completely forgot how incredible this episode was and watching a long really enhanced the experience. What a reveal of Mr. Scott! The connective tissue in this show is outstanding and feels so authentic. Thanks to these brilliant writers, whether it was this or learning of Teach’s history with Nassau/Vane/Eleanor, as a viewer you feel like you’re discovering the history of this real world instead of just learning of new plot. A couple of moments I noticed that foreshadowed Scott’s secret: In 1x7 Hornigold asks Scott “I’ll need to know your secret” in which Scott stops and looks stunned, but Hornigold was referring to how Scott deals with Eleanor. In 2x4 as Flint and Scott are talking on the ship just before “Fire”, Flint: “I wonder how many know that there was one man standing behind them, standing behind both thrones, keeping the world spinning” as the camera focuses on Scott’s face in the background. Flint was referring to Eleanor and Richard’s ‘thrones’ of Nassau but with this newfound knowledge, the scene becomes much deeper. Of all the shows I’ve watched yes, I do believe Flint is the most complex character. The turmoil he must be going through is unimaginable. Also love the Gladiator comparison! My fav movie and show with two of the best characters of all time. Never made the connection myself but now you’ve got me thinking of all the dualities between Flint and Maximus. Steven’s “Vane had a good Teacher” line killed me lol And off the top of my head my fav line so far has to be Silver: “So I actually have to fight him?” Flint: “Well what the FUCK did you think was going to happen!” But yes that Jack/Vane exchange is top tier. Honourable mention to “….you’re a thief” haha
