I remember being so scared that Jack was dead too! And I was so scared they were gonna shoot Vane right there! Also can we appreciate the shade being thrown in this episode? between "I can think of no measure of comfort worth that price" and "when I speak, my men listen" and "but jesus did I make up a lot of ground to catch you" .... we love to see it

2021-09-16 20:45:20 +0000 UTC100% agree on the reasons why Eleanor loves him. Don't know if anyone else had this issue but during my first watch I had a hard time buying their love partly because for me the two actors don't have the best on screen chemistry relative to other pairings.

2021-09-16 20:06:45 +0000 UTC-Madi is epic. I love her so much. I also think she gives Silver an example of a different type of leadership than what he's seen in Flint. He is soaking up all this knowledge to find his own style. -The "spy" Max is wondering about we've already seen in action -- it's Featherstone & Idelle. They're the ones passing on info they learn at the brothel. -Jack & Rogers in the carriage is an all time favorite scene for me. Jack calls out the things I hate in Rogers like his rich guy entitlement. I think you guys have both Rogers and Eleanor nailed in your assessments of them. Rogers plays all nice guy until someone doesn't do what he wants and then you see the real him peek out from behind the well-crafted image. -Eleanor is her own worse enemy. My view of her is that she loves Nassau more than any other person in her life. She chose it over both Max and Vane in the past. Rogers gives her the chance to reclaim power in Nassau so that is why she's aligned herself with him. "Loving" him is easy because it gives her the thing she already wants. -I think the real Woodes Rogers' book was pretty popular back in the day. In his book he recounted saving a marooned man from a deserted island, Daniel Defoe read it and was inspired by it to write "Robinson Crusoe".

2021-09-16 16:37:52 +0000 UTCThat was amazing when Nikki called that haha! Loved the conversation itself, really shows why Jack is who he is. This episode was also a showcase of Max’s brilliance and Madi’s leadership. To have a character introduced this late on and have her feel she so fleshed out and multi-dimensional, incredible. So interesting hearing your analysis of Eleanor. I feel these past 2 episodes are crucial for first time watchers in their opinion of her. You either believe she loves Rogers or you don’t. You either believe she has changed or you don’t. It definitely shaped mine during my first watch even though they have changed drastically since. Oh and spectacular one shot with the carriage chase. Sometimes the technical brilliance of this show gets overshadowed by the writing.
