Okay but this show is amazing! And it’s so cool that actual Scandinavians are playing the Danes/Northmen

2024-01-24 22:51:01 +0000 UTCLove this show and rewatching from the start again. I found your recap and thought I would watch this along with the show re-watch. I always wondered why Brida didn't see Thyra when she was being carted out by Sven. I could see that Uthred missed her because he was hiding in a different area of the house / yard. But Brida was sitting up top hiding in the trees. If she was watching for Uthred, wouldn't she have seen him?

2023-09-18 18:41:41 +0000 UTCNever joined patreon before but because you guys started reacting to one of my all time favorite shows The Last Kingdom, I decided to bite the bullet. TLK is by far the most underrated Netflix show in history. It’s a masterpiece.

2022-07-19 20:00:48 +0000 UTCfor your information, these Vikings are from Denmark, and The Vikings show are from Norway, totally different bunch,i think Ragnar is a common name in those part, and yes it is more historically accurate!

2022-07-17 01:11:00 +0000 UTCMade my day. I knew y’all would like this. Uhtred reminds me a little of John Snow in that he mostly sticks by his beliefs even if it makes things harder for him (while everybody else groans and shakes their head)😂😂. I’m excited. There’s so much goodness coming. It will be fun watching y’all try to keep track of all the Æthel’s and Ael’s.

2022-07-16 22:41:29 +0000 UTCRagnar the Fearless is not meant to be Ragnar from Vikings nor is his son. A common name in Scandinavia.

2022-07-16 21:45:37 +0000 UTCThe novels that "The Last Kingdom" are based on are more historically accurate than "Vikings" was. Still not 100% accurate, but much closer. Ragnar Lothbrok is a Scandinavian hero, but there is no hard evidence he ever existed. He could have been one great warrior king, or a composite of multiple Vikings, nobody knows for sure. This lack of real world history made him an ideal blank slate for the writer of Vikings. There are lots of historical references to & evidence of Rollo, Ubbe, Ivar the Boneless, Hvitserk, Harald Finehair, Sighurd-Snake-In-The-Eye, and of course kings like Ecbert, Aelle, Alfred, etc. The raid at Lindesfarne where Aethelstan was captured in S1 of Vikings also really happened but there's no evidence a Ragnar Lothbrok or Rollo led it. If Ragnar Lothbrok existed we know for certain he wasn't the real life brother of Rollo, who went on to conquer & settle Normandy. Even today the name Ragnar, Ragnarsson, or Ragnarsdottir are fairly common in Scandinavian countries. Among 9th century Scandinavians there were probably loads of men named Ragnar, Ubbe, etc. and their sons after them.

2022-07-16 21:16:26 +0000 UTCYay! Finished! Ok, so here is help (check my message out, with other spoiler free info). 1. In history, this is 75+ years AFTER Vikings. 2. Vikings kicked off in the late years of the 700s. And TLK when Uhtred is a child: 866. The time jump is about 875 AD. 2. Not Ball Tea!!! Lmao! This is later in history. Ecgberht is 40 years dead. 3. The current King of Wessex is Ecgberht’s grandson. Æthelred I. His brother is Prince Alfred. Who is at his more historic age in TLK. NOTE FROM A HISTORIAN: “(On Vikings) The moment Alfred took the crown instead of Aethelred, it derailed the entire saga.” Went basically full make believe. 4. No Alfred was never the secret child of a monk named Athelstan. That Æthelstan was TOTAL Invention. 5. The Book this show is based on is by author Bernard Cornwell. It includes a well-sourced historical notes in the back of each of his books. He is fashioned as an amateur historian. The show takes some liberties from the book, for drama…like GOT did in early seasons. 6. George RR Martin is a HUGE fan. Of books and show. George Was just talking this week about it. 7. Yes! Great pick up Steven. Being half Dane and half English is a deep wrestle in Uhtred. And ha the show is very funny at times 💯 8. I sent info on Ubba. :) Yes he’s Ivar’s brother in TLK. As in history, but broken record: this is more historic. That’s why he is in Northumbria at this time. The travel to North America in Vikings was fake. He was in England. 9. What to throw away? With battle events in Vikings where one is seen in TLK — there are too many points of historical inaccuracy to even mess with it. 9. Throw out Vikings! 💯💯💯💯 so many films are done on same topics or era. I’ve seen FOUR Katherine the Great shows/3 films. Some are hardcore factual, others are solid fiction. Hope this helps!

2022-07-16 19:36:26 +0000 UTCSo happy you started this amazing show, can't wait for more reactions lol As of the timeline they are in I think Nikki explained it better like: watch this as a new completely show separated from Vikings cause it might get a bit confusing with all names and stuff. But I do think this show is more history accurate than Vikings
