It really gets even better moving forward, and yes this is a show, that despite some small dip in writing in the last two seasons, still manages to wrap up things quite lovely (and much earlier than the books).

This episode is so moving and it’s one of my favorite of all series!! Ps They kept cutting to Sihtric while Ragnar was fighting because he was the bastard son who hated him!

2022-09-27 15:44:34 +0000 UTCAlfred has good reason to not trust Uhtred & to send Steapa with them, as we have seen, he tends to deviate from the plan. Yes he's successful for the most part, but that's only because he's the main character. As a Dane and warrior, he can be a bit of a wild card.

As such, in both seasons, you'll notice a moment that feels like it should be the grand climax of the season but which occurs about halfway through, while the show moves on to a whole other storyline by the next episode. In season 1, that was Uhtred fighting and killing Ubba. And of course here it's Ragnar and Uhtred laying siege to Dunholm.
