2023-01-25 01:29:23 +0000 UTCBecause they never talk about it on the show I always forget that Edward, Æthelflæd and Osferth are brother and sister and that Osferth is Æthelstan’s uncle. Also, did you recognize Æthelflæd’s daughter from House of the Dragon? Alicent’s daughter, Helaena. When Aelflæd said Æthelstan was being trained to kill them all reminded me of Otto and Alicent lying/believing that about Rhaenyra.

And the actress who plays Aethefleds daughter is also in HOTD. This is one of my favorite episodes. It has so many fun moments. Aelswith being a hypochondriac, teenagers being teenagers, Osferth with ladies fighting over him, Uhtred caught with his pants down. And Stiorra and Siggtrygr are so cute together.

I think the birds dying and the air changing has something to do with the volcano that Brida watched in the opening. I can't believe baby monk Uhtred got Theoned! So sad! Also I think the opening scene is literally the most amazing landscape I've ever seen on television. God damn it was gorgeous.
