Roadmap update: TittyMagic 5 and beyond

TittyMagic 5 will complete a few previously mentioned roadmap goals, improve upon existing features, and open many roadblocks that lead to completely new ways for improving breast physics in Virt-A-Mate.

However, version 5 is much bigger than that!

Planned for TittyMagic 5.0

The version 5 alpha 1 released yesterday introduced experimental configurable hard colliders, a redesigned user interface, many background technical improvements, and many smaller changes and additions.

To give you an idea of what to expect in future alphas and in the eventual early access release, let's crack on.

Improving touch physics with hard colliders [✔ Added in 5.0]

Hard colliders that are correctly scaled, shaped and having a correct amount of inertia greatly improve the way in which breasts react to touch when used in combination with suitable physics settings and dynamic morphing. Hard colliders largely take care of the problem of lack of volume displacement and skin crumpling inward with no resistance.

This feature should be automated to give good results without need for tweaking, but still allowing for configuration. This calls for automatic dynamic adjustment of size and shape in response to breast morph changes.

It would also make sense to automatically adjust collision force based on breast mass and softness slider values - this way, the collision physics will make sense for the given mass and softness without needing tweaking by the user.

Hard collider configuration and visualization [✔ Added in 5.0]

Configuration is currently possible by adjusting scale and collision force. However, this modifies all colliders (there are 5 hard colliders per breast). By the early access release, I want the configuration to be possible per individual collider as well.

When manually configuring the size and shape of hard colliders, it should be possible to visualize them to easily verify they're not poking out from the skin. This feature exists in Collider Editor, and a version of it could be ported and integrated to TittyMagic with probably not too much hassle.

Back to the drawing board with physics defaults [✔ Done in 5.0]

In previous versions, all calculations related to physics settings start from the limitations imposed by VAM. In version 5, many limitations are lifted - a recap from the alpha release post:

breast physics can be controlled independently for each breast
breast physics can be dynamically updated in response to forces acting on each breast
breast physics can be adjusted beyond the range limited to by the sliders in F Breast Physics 1 and 2 screens
all soft physics parameters can be adjusted individually for each soft collider group i.e. main, outer, areola and nipple (not just spring and damper!)

These need to be investigated, and a possible outcome is that the values applied at different softness, mass and quickness settings may need to be recalculated in a new way, and that the way physics is currently adjusted with chest angle may need to be rethought. These will then feed into what the plugin internally calculates for dynamic morphing. And whether hard colliders are enabled and how they are configured needs to be taken into account in all of this.

Making sure the default physics are good as possible for the full range of softness, quickness and breast size/mass values is a prerequisite for intuitive and consistent tweaking options. Once everyone is applying different tweaks to looks and scenes, the internal logic of the plugin that those tweaks work on top of needs to be more or less locked in, unless there's a new major development that changes everything.

Physics customization and configuration [✔ Added in 5.0]

In alpha 1, it's possible just to view the current physics values. Next, editing values will be added: every physics value will have a way to override it, offset it or both. The offset can be absolute value or multiplier/percentage based. More on this in future alpha versions!

More fine tuning for directional multipliers [✔ Added in 5.0]

For dynamic morphing and gravity physics multipliers, the up and down vs forward and back directions will be possible to adjust independently, and there will be a main multiplier to adjust the overall effect in all directions.

This is not a full complete locked in list, just the important ones I can think of at this moment :)

Left/right asymmetry

Since breasts are always slightly different in size in reality, they should also have different physics, and TittyMagic 5 will make that possible.

The basic implementation of this is that when breast mass is calculated from volume, it's automatically independent per breast and results in the rest of physics being different as well. There's no need for the user to configure that asymmetry - just adjust morphs themselves.

Beyond the natural built in asymmetry, there are some less obvious ways in which asymmetry could be useful:

These would be possible if all parameters - from physics to the effect of gravity on breasts and the force morphing multipliers, to the hard colliders - were able to be configured per left/right breast in the plugin UI. 

Breast presets

A breast presets feature is something I've wanted to do for a long time. A rudimentary version of this existed in the very first TittyMagic release in Jan 2021, but later versions then focused on automation and dynamic adjustment instead. Now, with detailed configuration options being added, presets might be very useful again: both for easily trying out different breasts on a look, and as starting points for tweaking.

Custom morphs

This has been a to-do since the beginning - after 5.0 it might finally be the time to tackle it.

Advanced configuration of the plugin's internal parameters

There's a fairly large amount of hard coded configuration when it comes to things like min/max values of physics parameters and morphs for different breast masses and softness and quickness values, math functions used internally to scale parameters along a curve and so on. For advanced users, it might be useful to configure these parameters to ensure the plugin behaves in a way they want to by default.

This kind of configuration probably requires a separate tool that saves a configuration file that TittyMagic can read, overriding any default values that are hard coded in TittyMagic.

Improve dynamic morphing, bring back gravity morphing

It would make sense to be able to configure how much dynamic morphing takes effect from all forces acting on the breast, and how much from the chest angle (simulating just the force of gravity). This might be especially important given that hard colliders can now feed into the amount of morphing which means that the force based morphing doesn't necessarily need to be fully responsible for simulating the effect of gravity on breasts! 

Reducing the amount of force based morphing with collision would improve that all-important titty drop effect - with the current system which relies fully on force morphing, that effect is a bit slow.

Custom colliders

Currently, version 5 alpha 1 modifies VAM's existing hard colliders. They're a bundle of different cylindrical or capsule like shapes, not exactly ideal given that breasts are elliptical. Thus it would be best use custom colliders. Custom colliders would be easier to fit inside the volume in a uniform way where all points on the collider surface are more less equally spaced from the skin surface. An elliptical collider would also be easier to shape dynamically as the breast shape changes.

What else?

For those of you waiting for BootyMagic to happen, I have both good news and, well, no news. The no news is that it's not happening quite yet, with so much going on in the titty department. The good news is that even the first version of BootyMagic will be more advanced than originally planned, as it will use the latest TittyMagic as a starting point.
