That's so interesting. I was okay with spanish for a little bit but have completely lost it. I feel language is like a muscle, if you're not using it you lose it

2024-03-27 14:04:36 +0000 UTCI live in Germany and while I‘m not technically bilingual we learn english as our second language starting in 3rd grade. At first I sucked at it lol but due to personal intrest in anime and reading fanfiction I became almost fluent. I consume so much english that I sometimes forget words in german and my brain is really thinking half half, especially if I need the other half like in discussions or trying to explain something I had an online discussion in english over to my non-english speaking parents (/non speaking since a few years back because they never needed it outside of school). But accents on the other hand aren‘t bad for me, sometimes I feel like I can understand them better than native speakers lol but I do have a problem with some british accents in movies when they don‘t speak loudly or clearly speaking into a non existing beard idk also scottish is a challenge but american and australian accents as well as non native accents are totally fine!

She is Vernon biased btw even tho she dinies it her friend insists and I‘m inclined to believe her lol. She also said that that wasn‘t the first group that her parents found but staff wouldn‘t let them talk to the other group so her dad went looking for others. When they found this group at first staff didn‘t want to let them take a pictiure, but Seungkwan was like „nah, just give me the phone, no problem!“ needless to say her Dad is a Seungkwan bias now lol

Funnily enough, my sister who knows just a little bit of English always says that it's easier for her to understand non natives, usually because they pronounce things slower and use pretty simple vocabulary that she can understand... for me it's more difficult, though. Languages and accents are so cool.
