Yeah seeing Luffy like this for the first time is heartbreaking...

2025-12-26 04:30:24 +0000 UTCTwo of my favorite episodes of all time, ngl. That intense (verbal) fight at the beginning, topped off with Usopp pulling a Batman vs. Superman (->Luffy). Absolute peak. 15:25 Nami has a point here, imo. Luffy stepped all over Usopp's feelings when he broke that news to him in the most nonchalant way possible. The Merry is essentially Usopp's treasure, let's not forget. It's Kaya's gift to the crew and he has been repairing and keeping it afloat all this time. And while Luffy was devastated to hear that she can't be fixed, he had several pros explain it to him in person and several hours to digest that news. Usopp had none of that. No good explanation and no time to digest it. Plus, he was at the lowest point we've seen him and not ready for any more bad news. And in this state Luffy tells him that they are gonna abandon the Merry and replace it with some random used ship. Luffy meant well and doesn't know any better, but he is responsible for triggering this fight. Another thing worth noting: Usopp sees Luffy as his best friend first and captain distant second. The two of them are constantly goofing around between adventures and Luffy rarely, if ever, really pulls rank on him, or any one else. When Luffy challenged Aokiji and told Zoro and Sanji to go back to the ship, Usopp asked them why they listened to him. Sanji said "captain's orders", but Usopp didn't accept that answer. It's subtle, but that shows how Usopp, more than anyone, sees Luffy as a friend, an equal, and not so much a captain who can just decide things without anyone's consent. It's easy to fault Usopp for overreacting, but for me it's Luffy who "just" needed more tact to avoid the worst of it. Ultimately though, it's all Oda's fault. 😛

2025-12-26 01:21:25 +0000 UTCIn these two Episodes we saw why Zoro is Luffy´s right hand man. He followed and supported his captain without letting his feelings overwhelm him. Luffy couldn´t back down from the duel otherwise he would lose his face as the captain. So Zorro did the only right thing to bring him back on line after his win even if it seems cold I really liked these two episodes

2025-12-25 23:08:52 +0000 UTCthis is a diabolical christmas gift lol watched this scene so many times, will always make me cry an ocean also, zoro was a little cold with what he said but its his job to keep luffy in line. ''if you waver, who can we trust?'', luffy was crying and feeling extremely bad, if he just turned back to usopp and showed mercy then he may as well leave his post as captain to someone else. he needs to be strong in moments like these but he also has to keep a certain face if he wants to be a worthy captain, zoro is the best right-hand man to a MC imo.
