🔧 Devlog 16 — Productive week, 24k+ words, emotions & combat GUI

This week was productive…
Patch 0.5 is currently at 24k+ words, and I still need to finish Harry’s content.
What does that mean? That's right! This patch will be much bigger than the previous ones. Almost double… if not exactly double.

Why this size?
Several reasons: I’ve had more help with testing and programming (it feels so good not having to implement the GUI myself xDDD). But I also need to make it this big due to the characteristics of the patch itself…

This patch has multiple “paths” in the sense that you can resolve the stadium arrival in different ways. You can go to one place first, or another, Not only does the order open different scenes, change existing ones and lead to different outcomes but your past decisions play a role as well.. You’ll get a better feel for this once you have the patch in your hands xD.

Above all, this is a patch of strong (and mixed) emotions. I watched Alex doing beta testing and he was… let’s say, “emotional hit” for several days (I don’t want to tell you exactly how he felt so I don’t spoil the patch for you). But yeah, heavy emotions on this one and it can be a hard patch to read when it comes to it for some of you <.<, which makes me happy because that was one of the goals, but it also makes me curious to see how you will react. For me (and I’m biased, I know), this has been the best patch so far.

Matt Visual Update

Yep, you heard right: our giant Matty got an update.
This pass was mostly done by Alex (thank you!), and focuses on outfit, pose, and especially upscaling his expressions. I’ve been using the camera a lot more lately, and I love how it looks. But yeah, those zoom-ins demand higher-quality images and now we got them for Matt. 😉

His original design hasn’t changed, but I hope you like the new pose and new clothes (Alex approves… though he’s also the one who made them <.<).

Alex made yet another ‘set’ of clothing (if we can call that a set of clothing at all <.<) but he says you will have to wait for the beach saga to see it ;)

Next up: if I can find the time, I want to upscale Harry, and give the bearded one of the group new outfits and poses too.

Combat GUI

The combat GUI is practically done, just a couple of details to implement. I’ll leave the reveal for next week.

Bug Fixes

Harry’s standing animation was bugged in several scenes.
Huge thanks to Sharpsz for finding it and letting us know. -> this has been fixed and patched, Harry now stands as he should (…kind of, right? <.<).

Diego not trusting you while… he should ? -> Diego might not allow you to go with Harry alone to the dorms even if he should trust you with it. This is due to a bug and has now been fixed and patched. Huge thanks to Alex for finding that one out.
