2024-08-02 00:55:19 +0000 UTCSo weird....randomly watching and when they said the date of 10/17 kind of freaked me out lol. If I remember correctly the announcers who were kind of joking right after it happened had to apologize because people are, well, stupid and thought they were being insensitive.

2023-10-18 02:42:04 +0000 UTCIt was called Candlestick Park because it was located on Candlestick Point in San Francisco. It was, by most accounts, not a great stadium for baseball because of the windy conditions. It was also the home of the 49ers for a long time, even after the Giants moved to Oracle Park. One piece of major pop culture history? Candlestick Park was where the Beatles played their final concert before quitting touring in 1966.

2023-08-26 13:27:01 +0000 UTC30 for 30 was named that because it was originally a series of 30 documentaries to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of ESPN's first broadcast. Then it was such a hit they kept going. Given I recall one of you is a Cubs fan, you've got to watch the 30 for 30 simply entitled, "May 6, 1998".

2023-08-18 20:10:41 +0000 UTCI was 8 and an A's fan and so the earthquake is one of my first childhood memories. I remember the game going off the air & the local station putting a Roseanne rerun, of all things, on for about 10 minutes before the news came back up.

2023-08-14 12:16:08 +0000 UTCI remember all too vividly that World Series. I happened to be taking a geology seminar in my first semester in college that fall, and we took time out of the regularly scheduled subjects to discuss the science behind that particular earthquake.

2023-08-14 11:45:36 +0000 UTCI don't know if you all still have this in Britain, we at least do in the South for sure, among other places all over. When shit hits the fan, heroes will show up.

2023-08-14 01:55:45 +0000 UTCFYI that idea of "not sharing" usually comes from A's fans but also some Giants fans. They are in separate leagues, and the only time they meet when it really matters is the World Series.

2023-08-13 15:23:50 +0000 UTC@Damo to make it even more confusing, ESPN has another documentary series called E:60 which I believe actually refers to them being an hour long 🤣

2023-08-13 15:19:55 +0000 UTCThank guys, for the 30 for 30 docs they really put effort into making, in contrast to the old ESPN documentaries like the one about the miracle on ice, it just felt like those old documentaries you watched in grade school that were just made up of old clips, you know what I mean?

2023-08-13 15:14:21 +0000 UTCI'd probably agree that's my favorite as well but there are a lot of really good ones. I'm wondering if they'd find the "This Is Sportscenter" commercials funny. They need to bring those back! There are a ton of compilations on YouTube.

2023-08-13 13:24:59 +0000 UTC30 for 30 was originally a series of 30 sports documentaries from 30 different directors produced by ESPN. They were so well received they continued to make more after the initial 30 but just continued to use the “30 for 30” title. Candlestick Park was the home of both the Giants and the 49ers. Both teams have since moved to new stadiums and Candlestick Park has been demolished. It was named for Candlestick Point where it was located. This was a great watch guys! I personally think every 30 for 30 I’ve watched has been great so feel free to pick ones that catch your attention for the future. Some are heavy like this while some are more lighthearted. Between this and Moneyball you guys will be A’s fans by the end of the month! Haha
