Fernando Nation - 30 For 30

Our 2nd 30 for 30 and this one followed the incredible journey of Fernando Valenzuela. What a fantastically put together story, we really enjoyed this one. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

I highly recommend Catching Hell (about the Cubs and the Steve Bartman incident) and Four Days in October (the 2004 Red Sox and Yankees series). Both good 30 for 30 documentaries.

I have to recommend my favorite 30 for 30."Once Brothers" is the story of the members of the Yugoslav basketball team that was torn apart by the civil war there.

I think you may be right! He was such a great player!

What a great comment! Thanks for sharing, it just have been such an amazing time to be in LA, he seems like such a great guy as well as a great pitcher!

Makes sense, thank you Jacob! Yeah it was a great watch, we loved it!

Try me 😂

With modern medicine, nutrition and not being over pitched he would have been able to pitch a lot longer and would have no doubt gone into the hall. He was the player that got a ten year old me into loving baseball. Fernando Will always be one of my favorite players of all time

There was a rookie a few years ago who threw a no hitter in his debut for the Diamondbacks (Tyler Gilbert)

Wow! I am the same age as Fernando Valenzuela, and lived in LA during his entire career. This video attempts to explain the passion and emotion that the city had for this man, but doesn't come close to the love that was felt by the masses of fans throughout the country for this man. He was a great pitcher no doubt but he was the symbol of something much greater. He was adored by everyone, all walks of life, Mexicans, whites, blacks, Americans, Canadians, Latin Americans (ie Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Guatemalans, Venezuelans etc..) He was a simple, poor, humble, unspoiled, man with a beautiful spirit that touched everyone. We were all caught up in "Fernandomania." It was real! We have a saying here in the states the perfectly illustrates our affection for baseball and for just how deep it runs into our souls. "Baseball is life." ♥

The World Series has always been a best of 7 series as far as I’m aware. You may have been confused when they said they won three straight to win the Series because they meant they won three straight after already winning the game Fernando started which gave them the four wins necessary to win the championship. This was a really great watch! It shows how sports can unite and inspire us in ways little else can. Can’t wait for the next one!

Reagan was shot in 1981 (2 months after he was sworn into office- the reason for the failed assassination is so stupid you wouldn't believe it smh)
