The Last Dance - Episode 7
Added 2023-09-22 06:58:28 +0000 UTCAnother great episode of this amazing show! Crushed by the death of his father, a mentally exausted Michael retires in 1993 - to play baseball. The Bulls move on with Scottie in the lead role.

I really want "New eardrums" on a T-shirt lol. It's pretty much your catchphrase at this point.

2023-10-20 02:24:14 +0000 UTCJordan's manager with the Barons was Terry Francona, who a decade later would manage the Red Sox to their "curse"-breaking World Series win...then did it again a few years later. After leaving Boston he went to (my) Cleveland Indians and with a way smaller payroll (a'la Moneyball) became the winningest manager in franchise history and came SO CLOSE to winning Cleveland it's first World Series since 1948. He just retired at the end of this season and he is an amazing coach and an amazing person.

2023-09-23 01:03:23 +0000 UTCMagnificent watch with you guys. Really wish I could travel over to the UK and have a beer or Pepsi and some wings with you two blokes. lol... This series is truly riveting and so full of drama and intrigue. My hat is off to the producers and writers. Its impossible to overstate how large a figure MJ was in the US during the height of his popularity. The man is insanely wealthy and his cultural influence has profoundly shaped the narrative around sports here. People speak of Michael's winning mentality, his unquestioned dominance of his sport. For example, in the soccer world people are split on who the best footballer is or who the best ever is. In basketball there is no debate. I love LeBron (especially since he's become a Laker) but he has never reached the iconic status of Michael Jordan. Not even close!

2023-09-22 20:27:00 +0000 UTCI grew up in Alabama and when Michael played for the Birmingham Barons, it was the biggest deal in the entire world to people there. The only time I ever got to see Jordan play in person was for the Barons. I was 5 years old. It was like seeing God. The park was so full.

2023-09-22 20:13:37 +0000 UTCCome for the reaction to one of North American sports’ greatest dynasties, stay for the UK geography lessons. I don’t know how I feel how about Jordan’s competitiveness. Many claim the abuse he subjected his teammates to was justified because they won but other teams have won championships without psychological harassment. At the end of the day it’s really not up to me as I didn’t experience it. I just don’t like the idea that you HAVE to be so psychotically competitive to be successful.

2023-09-22 16:34:07 +0000 UTCToni Kukoc was a baller. Players from the former Yugoslavia and the Baltic region paved the way for European players and did it in a succesful way that changed the stigma of "soft Europeans" Another 30 for 30 to add to the list is called "Once Brothers" it does an incredible job of highlighting European players and their transition to the NBA a long with focusing on a particular tragic storyline with a European prodigy.
