Remember The Titans (Cut Version)
Added 2023-10-29 10:45:16 +0000 UTCJoin us as we take a look at the October movie of the month! This was a great watch and taught us a lot about high school football and the racial divide that society was facing during this time. An exceptional performance from Denzel Washington, let us know your thoughts in the comments!

2023-10-30 01:45:09 +0000 UTCAn excellent film. I grew up in that area around that time. It's important to me because as black Americans, so much of our collective experience has roots in athletics, so much so that sports and politics can't really be separated. Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, Muhammed Ali refusing to go to Vietnam, the black power salute at the Olympics are all examples. This is why it pisses us off when a usually white, conservative pundit tells a black athlete to "Shut up and dribble" when they speak their minds, but yet when Drew Brees criticizes Colin Kaepernick, that's all they want to talk about and promote. A couple of stories that relate to this that you might be interested in are: Doug Williams, the first black QB to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory, at a time when it was a very popular belief that black men were not smart enough to play the position. The team he played for at the time was the Washington Redskins, the last team in the NFL to integrate. And I know you've gotten a taste of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in your recent Lakers vs Celtics video, but Kareem is a giant of a man both literally and figuratively. When he was in college, the NCAA actually changed the rules to try to make him less dominant by banning the dunk, which ironically made him even more dominant by leading him to develop the most unstoppable shot in basketball, the Skyhook.
