I am a big fan and enjoy all of your content so I am not trying to be critical, but I don’t understand how I’m over halfway through this watch along and you guys still think that Gary is the starting quarterback, despite playing defense the whole time 😂

The crisp smell of a chilly autumn day still can bring back memories of playing HS football even now, but now it is painful because I'd give anything to be able to go back. We also had to wear full suits and ties on the Friday before any game (or Wednesday if the game was on Thursday) and it was awesome. Everyone in school knew you were on the team, even if you were just a bench warmer. Anyway, if you guys like comedy you should watch Shane Gillis' bit on this movie (and Alabama football, on which it's based, who refused to integrate until I think 1971). It's hilarious Edit: hell yeah we did all that at the high school level. I got hurt more in practice than in actual games haha

2023-10-31 15:39:19 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you guys got to see this, it's such a powerful story and really shows the impact that athletes can have. Also, Ronnie kisses Gerry because Gerry had called him a "fruitcake" earlier, which is a really derogatory and insulting term for a gay man.

2023-10-30 16:34:32 +0000 UTCI don't mean to blow your mind any further about the already insane level High School Sports are viewed as in this Country- but yes, High School Football & Basketball (I don't think other sports do) Teams will travel out of State to play other Schools but these are what's called "Non-League" Games that only the best Schools in the Country will play these games (as usually only the best Schools in the Country will have the money to pull off these arrangements) and are usually broadcasted on ESPN or one of the FOX Sports channels. We also have National Championships in High School but these are merely given out on Rankings (just like the Old College Football System would do to determine the Football National Champions) and not a "National Championship Game"
