2023-12-30 22:28:08 +0000 UTCThere's been a few games I can remember postponed or delayed for reasons other than lightning. The Bills had one postponed after something like 10 feet (3 meters) of snow fell in Buffalo in the 48 hours before game time. Buffalo residents are used to big snowstorms, but not that big, and as I recall neither the visiting team nor the officials could get to, or even near, the stadium. The Vikings had a home game postponed due to snow once, which was especially notable as they played in a dome back then! The Metrodome, however, had an *inflatable* roof, and while it did have a heating element to keep snow from piling up, the snow fell faster than the heating could melt it, caving in the roof! There was a super bowl in new Orleans one year. All week leading up to the game there'd been commercials featuring unflattering portrayals of voodoo, which is a big deal in New Orleans. But the spirits had the last laugh as shortly after halftime, the lights went out. Total electric blackout, and they weren't playing the Super Bowl without lights. The last one I can recall was a Fabrice Muamba situation: a player simply collapsed on the field having suffered an apparent heart attack. I don't remember the player's name. The NFL actually tried to continue with thr game, but the coaches and players unanimously refused despite thr league office threatening unspecified penalties. Fortunately, when thr NFL saw the winds of public opinion in the aftermath, they announced there would be no penalties.

2023-12-30 22:17:21 +0000 UTCThere's bridges from Michigan to Canada, my family took thay route on a road trip that went through upstate New York, crossed into on a bridge near Niagara Falls, and then crossed into northeast Michigan. Headed west to catch a Lansing Lugnuts baseball game on the way to visit our friends in Chicago (The Cubs were out of town for our visit).

2023-12-30 21:52:22 +0000 UTCThe college all stars used to play the best NFL team, and actually would sometimes win (the parity between college and NFL was less than it is now, they would never win now). That game that you saw was the last time it ever happened because so many college kids got injured against the Steelers, and it was losing popularity (college kids hadn't won in like 15 years at that point). Also the only game I know of that didn't even finish, the called the game over in the 3rd quarter.
