2024-04-27 01:33:15 +0000 UTCSam and Rebecca is definitely a reference to Cheers. George Wendt who played Norm on Cheers is Jason Sudeikis' uncle in real life. There are several references to George / Cheers throughout the series (his photo is in Roy's kebab shop). The writers for the show bring in so many references to US pop culture it's crazy. I'm sure I missed a ton even though I'm about the right age to have caught most of them. So fun when other fans point out ones I missed.

2024-04-10 02:39:20 +0000 UTCThe only other Sam & Rebecca I can think of is from the TV show Cheers (played by Ted Danson & Kirstie Alley). But they weren’t really a couple, though I think they tried for a bit. They were funny together. Rebecca joined the show for season 6 through season 11.
