Landry would not have been found guilty of murder. No chance. But with how charge happy DA's are, I doubt they wouldn't press charges.. Maybe in rural TX which of course where Dillon is, but odds are it would have gone to trial in a long drawn out process and he ultimately would have been not found guilty of any degree of murder.

I have a hard time believing a Texas jury would convict Landry for murder in this case. The self defense argument would be compelling given the victim's criminal history and Tyra's testimony. A manslaughter plea deal without prison time wouldn't have been a crazy resolution.

Maybe we have a flashback episode where the watch gets sold at an auction, but the bidding war turns violent, between the young teacher and the least Swedish looking person alive, The Swede, and they fight to the death, end result both dying from mortal wounds. Graves are hastily dug and the next bidder and owner is Smash’s girlfriend Waverly from season 1, who quickly realizes it is a priceless artifact worth millions, resells it, pays back the money Smash stole from the church, and travels the world in absolute luxury for the next few years. The lost episode of Friday Night Lights.

In US law, once someone is arrested they have a right to an attorney. In the beginning Landry was not under arrest knowing his dad would bring him back, this was just a courtesy to make sure Landry had a defense attorney before any official statements were made. Theoretically the brother could sue Landry, but the brother has no idea. What I suppose happened is that after reviewing Landry’s official testimony, the district attorney decided not to press charges because Landry was within his legal right of self defense (in the US, self defense laws vary by state), and/or felt it would be an unwinnable case.

Not sure which was funnier -- your intro going on about what the title Confession means or your outro going on about the watch. I do agree that wrapping up a murder investigation with a quick -- they're not pressing charges -- does seem oversimplified -- so maybe it's another example of the mediocre writing in season 2. In any case, it was an interesting episode and reaction.

A spin off about Landry's watch, you guys crack me up. Yeah, think Landry getting off like that was a bit of tv magic lol. But it is season 2 so...There's 15 eps total, so 6 left.
