That was not supposed to be the end of the season. I believe it was cut short due to the writers strike as well. Season 3 is a bit of a confusing start because it picks up at the start of the following season and hastily connects some dots from what should have been the end of S2 (playoffs, Smash, Riggins, etc.) There are also some things that just "are" to start S3 that had no explanation to how they got there. It's just kinda like "yeah, it's been 9 months since we last saw these high schoolers, this is what's happening now and the how/why is irrelevant". There's a couple people in the middle of a story to end S2 that you won't see again.

2024-08-17 03:17:30 +0000 UTCWow had no idea! Maybe it is some sort of poetic justice or commentary on the shortened season that he played a character who fought Coach Taylor in the finale. Thats going to be my head canon at least :-)

2024-08-16 11:12:55 +0000 UTCI'm so happy to see the end of season 2 and back to regular scheduled programming lol. Pete Berg (who played Mo in this episode) is the creator and writer of Friday Night Lights (series) and he directed the movie. This was a totally unnecessary plot (like much of s2) but I do love how protective you guys are over Mrs Coach lol.

2024-08-16 04:59:41 +0000 UTCThat really was a horrible way to end a season! The season didn’t even finish. They could have cut out the Swede, the English teacher, and this random millionaire that fought Coach this episode. Erase those storylines and they could’ve completed the football season. Season 3 is great, totally different from this. As for ages of players, no spoilers but we can infer that Smash is the only notable senior, as we would have seen people like Smash and Saracen talking/thinking about college.
