The knights were so mad at Subaru that they wanted to kill him for disrespecting them. It’s not said in the anime but he punished Subaru so mercilessly and cruelly so that the other Knights would be discouraged from trying to get back at him themselves Ground dragons have what's called a Divine Protection of Wind Evasion. It's a natural ability that means they're unaffected by wind, so they can run faster and smoother because they don't experience wind resistance. This also applies to their riders and carts/ carriages that they pull, but only within a limited area. Subaru stuck his arm outside that area, so the full force of the wind struck him. Also there is cut content of a very important conversation between Al and Subaru that was suppose to be in ep 12. I don’t know if they plan to rework it in a future season. Someone tell me if it’s ok to say or not.

2024-03-22 02:05:23 +0000 UTCSubaru is supposed to be cringey, and his actions here are supposed to be annoying and bad yes. But it is also important to remember that he is a realistically written 17yo kid who has gone through more trauma than just about anyone and is completely isolated from everyone and everything he knew before he was transported to another world. His mental state is awful. Him desperately clinging on to the one person who has repeatedly shown him kindness is pretty understandable. He wants to go to the palace so desperately not out of a sense of self-importance, it’s actually the opposite. He feels his only worth is to be there so he can die and reset things if someone tries to harm Emilia (remember, Elsa was out to kill her in the first arc, and they believe the mabeast user was ultimately after Emilia as well.) It’s understandable to be upset with him after these two episodes, but hating him is extreme imo.

2024-03-22 02:05:12 +0000 UTCYup its all intentional. Subaru is showing his worst flaws when things go soo wrong. The success of the previous arc definitely got to his head. Alot of people hate Subaru as a character, especially in this stretch of episodes. But there's a difference between liking them as a character, and as a person. We're definitely meant to not like him as a person at this moment. But he has so much growth to do to progress into a more mature and better person. Its unfortunate that its gonna take a bit more suffering and humbling to get it. But that's realistic to some people in general. We grow from failure and suffering hardships. I hope you guys can pull through on this stretch of the ride. Cos Subaru is a fantastic character, and I hope you guys stick through the journey to see why I think he is a well written protagonist. We have so much character development and growth to witness.
