I just wanted to say this since you were actually doing some quick math to figure out the year this was taking place… (not a bad thought, but it did lead you to very wrong answer lol)

Just to point out, Bilbo was completely joking about the wine thing at the very beginning… using it as a way to jokingly call himself an old man. The wine is much older than he is as he’s turning 111 in sometime in the early 3000s of the third age (in the books there’s actually a ~15 year gap between Bilbo’s party/disappearance and Frodo’s departure from the Shire, but the movie doesn’t show if the time jump happens or not… so it’s unclear if the party in the movie is in ~3002 T.A. or been shuffled to 3018 T.A. to be in the same year as when Frodo leaves on his quest). Anyway, if the Old Winyard was from 1296… it would be a little shy of 1800 years old, much older than Bilbo.

I think Peter Jackson appears randomly during these films so try to find him if you can!

Something pretty cool: when they send Boromir off, after he dies, you can see that Aragorn had taken Boromirs gauntlets as a memorial of him and has put them on himself.

By the way, the knife deflection from the fight at the end? Real. The intention was for Lawrence Makoare, the actor playing Lurtz (the Uruk captain), to pretend to throw the knife, but hold onto it and then a CGI knife would be added in post. Unfortunately, the combination of prosthetics and too much fake blood on his hands resulted in the knife slipping and flying at Viggo Mortensen who managed to defend himself by deflecting the knife. As Peter Jackson always makes a point of utilizing any footage which resulted or came close to resulting in injuries out of respect for the actors, the footage was included in the final cut.

I'd been waiting for this video, but somehow missed it being posted here. Maybe because Frieren and Dress up Darling were posted right after? Anyway, it's been years since I've seen this, this will be fun.

Yellow_hat_gnome

IF (that's a big if lol) we do part 2 let's hope amazon isn't playing up

Cara&Prez

Its Glitching because of Amazon. This series is so well done that it can still put many current films to shame. special affect, music, costume design, you name it.

Josh Jameson

Highly recommend the extended editions going forward 😊

Wige

yall really did it lmao... PEAK!!!

soulieproud

Peak cinema! Recommend the extended editions though. A lot of great content that provides important context was cut for the cinematic releases. Especially in this movie.

OGRaptor

this is a moment of all time

Kurri
