Mana, tecnique, experience, and she even said she lost 11 times to ppl with less mana than her. The minimum we can guess is that Serie has a bigger arsenal of spells than Frieren, but idk about the rest. Probably more mana? As Aura said your mana increases with training, and Serie was already a great mage way before Frieren, as she trained Flamme, it's possible that her mana is greater than Frieren's too.
