When Prez said that Sakuta was about to have the worst Christmas ever, he didn't know how correct he was.

2025-02-25 04:56:18 +0000 UTCWhen I was watching the movie I was vibing the same way I do when I watched the series... it was so relaxed yet mysterious. I was enjoying the emotions and the heartfelt struggle of Sakuta having to pick between the girlfriend he loves and the crush/young girl he adores. It felt like just another journey in our Bunny Girl Senpai universe. Then Sakuta stood at that crosswalk and I was crushed because I realized he was actively picking Shoko over Mai. I think Shoko's character is so well done but I just absolutely love and adore Mai. I think Prez said it best here that we truly just don't deserve her seemingly infinite reservoir of patience and understanding. Then Mai saves his life at the cost of hers... and every single time she warned Sakuta that she loves him *WAY*more than he loves her... and I just felt so crushed. I completely understood why he was broken. I was so heartbroken... then hearing that she set it up to be Shoko's donor instead as well... just... truly she understood him better than he understood himself. The plot twists after that really elevated this movie... but man. Mai is just... she really is something else. Especially now, on rewatch, it's excrutiatingly obvious that she knew from the moment Shoko admited he was the donor and was going to die on christmas eve... that Mai had decided right then and there that she would die in his place if she couldn't get him away. It makes the scene where she takes him back to that train station with the same goal as "traveling as far as possible" just like when he first helped her... so much more heart-wrenching. <3 Mai

2024-09-21 14:44:43 +0000 UTCShoko basically pressed that big RESET button, that's how powerful her syndrome was. Some reactors said that Shoko is selfish, because she "forced" Sakuta into her life and made misery out of it, basically. Which is complete untrue. Everything was an accident, they met in the hospital by accident too. Shoko-san (the old one) came from the future to save Sakuta from dying and to sacrifice herself so he can live instead. At the end, young Shoko did that too. She pressed that reset button and changed the past so he never met her, just the memories of that timeline survived as dreams. Young Shoko did that not knowing if she will survive or not, and she did survive only become both Sakuta and especially Mai with the movie did a lot of job to promote organ donation.

2024-09-16 17:17:54 +0000 UTCIt wasn't Sakuta who reset everything tho, it was Shoko herself. She made sure that Sakuta would have a future where he didn't have to be sad because of her and was even prepared to pretend she doesn't know him like at the beach in the end.

2024-09-13 22:54:40 +0000 UTCWhat I understood is that Shoko is aware of all the timelines that were formed because of her, including one where she lived happily with Sakuta, which is why she was telling him to leave everything in her hands. As for Sakuta, he did reset everything and didn’t meet Shoko at the beach, but the memories of the other futures were experienced like dreams. That’s why Mai agrees to the drama, to raise awareness about organ donation, and because of that, Shoko was able to get a heart without depending on Sakuta. In the end, when they meet on the beach, the memories of the other futures are updated, and Sakuta remembers his futures (maybe even up to the point where Mai dies) and Shoko also remembers everything. Very good reaction, and even though imagines that Mai will come back, her death still hurts.😭😅

2024-09-12 08:11:35 +0000 UTCBoth movies are out and both are direct continuation of the series, covering Rascal does not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, and Rascal does not Dream of a Knapsack Kid. Also, it was announced that the rest of the books will also be adapted in some form or another.

2024-09-11 20:30:03 +0000 UTCDo you know if these movies are canon too? I didn't realize another movie was out, was it good?

2024-09-11 19:46:58 +0000 UTC1. Rewatching the movie may hit even harder than the first time through because the shock of the accident is usually the overriding feeling the first time through. 2. Rewatching after actually losing loved ones definitely hits even harder than previous rewatches. 3. Again, Mai is the best.

2024-09-11 18:40:44 +0000 UTCThe movie is great. The two books the movie is based on are fantastic. The movie suffers a tiny bit from having to add on scenes from previous books that were left out of the series. While reading the book, I had to stop and take a break multiple times because I was crying too hard to read.

2024-09-11 16:24:35 +0000 UTCThere are two interesting details in the light novel missing in the movie about the part where shoko came back after mai died. 1) Shoko's personality seemed different, more like Mai's, not just how she also drugged him but there was a scene where she pinched his cheek (which is also why Shoko with Sakuta's heart was so cheeky) 2) In that missing scene where she pinched his cheek, Sakuta noticed that Shoko was wearing a wedding ring. Before falling asleep, he asked Shoko to tell the future him to "Take care of his cute wife"

2024-09-11 12:27:58 +0000 UTC1:16:30 I think he knows the pain of losing Mai. After all he simply merged with his current self. He has the memories of his other existence. Just like Futaba's experiences kind of merged together. It's not the same thing as Kaede where she lost her memories twice. At least, that's what I would assume :) Also, you might have realised, but I want to point it out. Mai taking that role in the drama raised awareness about the donor card and the whole organ donation activity which helped Makinohara get a heart transplant (this is just a guess, but I think she got the transplant way sooner because of this) Thank you for the great reaction! :)
