As someone who has only read a few novels ahead I think you would still really enjoy them. I didn't believe people when they said it but some of the best 86 content still has yet to be adapted. The first season (covering the first 3 volumes) is really just the prologue. Whatever you decide its awesome to see fellow 86 fans!

2024-11-08 04:38:40 +0000 UTCAs a huge 86 fan of both the novels (only read to Volume 5) and the anime I feel this is my biggest complaint. I do wish how they survived made a little more sense for anime only's. Unless you've read the source material it is hard to deduce I imagine. Great comment!

2024-11-08 04:33:52 +0000 UTCSo a few things that are a bit vague but much clearer in the LN. Shin and Spearhead Squadron were saved by Rei. (Shin's Brother) He transferred his consciousness to another unit before he was destroyed by Shin. But the whole interaction with Shin broke him away from the Legion so he was able to rebel. He managed to get them close to Giad's border before being destroyed by Giad forces. The anime represents this as the dream sequence you see with Rei in armor carrying Shin. They show the remains of unit Rei took over as well in the episode.

2024-11-08 03:04:27 +0000 UTCAs said above, the Giad Empire created the Legion, and invaded everyone around them (as noted during the republic history class in episode 2). A lot Giad were opposed to the idea of mass war using robots, so rebelled. After the civil war, the Empire loyalists lost, and the winning faction founded the Federacy of Giad (No longer with an Emperor/Empress, now with a President and Democracy) The Legion were created to serve the Empire, so now, they likely just running their old program of 'Kill everyone who is not the Empire' which is really, all humans now But remember the civil war is VERY recent, and alot of the losing faction would have been absorbed into the winning faction, like any civil war. So the scars are probably still very real inside Giad.

2024-11-08 00:27:09 +0000 UTCI want to continue the story onwards with the LN, but I don't think my heart can take the feelings of despair and dread after the anime book ended and left on such a high note.

2024-11-08 00:19:29 +0000 UTCI read the light novels and it actually shows Rei saving them from his POV if I remember correctly. It's been a while.

2024-11-08 00:12:50 +0000 UTCLena's new black uniform completes the Republic's five-colour stripes on its flag, which represent freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice, and nobility. It's not translated well, and not a spoiler, this is usually the most confusing part for a lot of people. In the scene where Rei is carrying little Shin and puts him down, there's a destroyed Dinosauria, the same legion model manned by Rei in the background. When Ernst and his entourage are walking down the hallway, they commented why was there a Dinosauria with them. It is implied that Rei was still watching over Shin and saved/carried them until patrols from the Federacy of Giad destroyed the Legion and found them.
