Thank you for explaining this, to be more specific he hopped into Fido. Right before Raiden gets shot you see Fido going to the right behind the hill.

The use of the black bars to show Shin's mental spiraling then the white bars when Lena showed up giving him new hope. The explosion of the Legion mech with the flash back of the fireworks when Lena told Shin she would not forget. I love how they represented Shin's mental state between the different voices - his telling himself he is not worth anything and all his old comrades thanking him. How after the battler his mech looks like a soldier reclined back with his rifle slung over his shoulder. "Voices of the Chord" dropping in to hit the right emotional notes for us. Raiden line "Nobody left you behind" hits like a sucker punch everytime.
