My favorite part of this episode is the fact that Nijika and Kita are so used to Bocchi's shenanigans that when she "turns to dust" (metaphorically) at the end of their visit instead of them just waiting... they actually just play along and "die" with her. Going so far as to tell Ryo she has to solo the concert. Like... the just hilarious commitment to being friends with her and just letting her be herself is so fucking wholesome and hilarious.

2024-12-15 12:45:28 +0000 UTCI used to see the husk/skin/molt as a kid a lot. I just saw one for the first time in a long long time over the summer. My nieces spotted it and asked me about it. probably creepy when you don't know that they are and see one for the first time.

2024-12-15 11:19:31 +0000 UTCDifferent parts of the country Cicadas are louder in one area that another since the have a 17 year life cycle and come out in big groups. they come out from the ground in hordes in different parts of the country. I'm sure is the same in Japan too along with every other country they are in.

2024-12-15 11:14:32 +0000 UTCWe have them here in Brasil too, but not many, sometimes you can hear one really loud, but that's it. Idk if in real life Japan they are as abundant as anime shows, but aparently it's true.

2024-12-15 00:23:16 +0000 UTCRyokan is a traditional Japanese inn, often with natural hot spring baths. Cicadas are the bugs, get them in Australia and New Zealand too. Most are typically in the cricket/cockroach range, but maybe they get bigger in Japan. They are known for leaving their 'husk' behind when they molt, a fav collectable for little kids (who enjoy scaring other little kids by putting them in their hair).
