2025-01-13 04:55:59 +0000 UTCOH AND SEIJOH EXTRA SCENE <3 i'm so happy y'all liked it, it adds so much to every seijoh character and it's so wholesome. it's on the manga too, so it's canon. oikawa and iwaizumi are said to have been best friends since they were three, so of course the loss hurts extra hard, but a bond like that is unbreakable at that point. even if they go to separate teams, they'll always be close friends and it's so cute

2025-01-13 03:58:58 +0000 UTCeveryone already explained the meaning behind the leon/benkei thing, so ill just say, this team is INSANE and it's very much not just ushijima. every single player is good as hell on their own, which is why shiratorizawa is the "addition of powerful strengths together". they don't really need combinations or new attacks to flourish, they just need everyone's individual strength. personally i really do like their team and their dynamic together, i don't know if you noticed just from this yet, but the third years (semi, #3, gray hair, tendou #5, red hair, leon #4, hayato #14) all refer to ushijima by his first name (wakatoshi), and they refer to each other and most od the juniors by their first names as well, which indicates they're super close. can't wait for the next few episodes!! <3

That is a really hard thing to admit right after such a heartbreaking loss. For all of his shenanigans, Oikawa is the Great King for a reason. 2025-01-13 02:10:18 +0000 UTCUshijima Wakatoshi is nicknamed Ushiwaka. Ushiwaka or Ushiwakamaru is the childhood-name of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, an actual historical figure. One of the most famous samurai in Japanese history, to the point he has become a legend of literature and folklore beyond the historical facts. Benkei supposedly is also a historical figure. He was a powerful warrior monk who became one of his most loyal and famous subjects after being defeated by Ushiwara/Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Though in contrast Ushiwaka afaik there are no contemporary sources talking about Benkei, from what I could find the first mentions are like a century after his time, so it's hard to say what about him is actual historical fact and what is embellished legends.

2025-01-13 01:52:58 +0000 UTCThere is a whole story behind the why Hinata called Leon "Benkai" Ushijima Wakatoshi (aka JAPAN) has the nickname of "Ushiwaka", most likely because of the "Ushi" in Ushijima and "Waka" in Wakatoshi. His nickname "Ushiwaka", is the child name of the Japanese Genji Warrior, Minamoto Yoshitsune, who was also known to have extreme jumping abilities. Benkei was the right hand man of Yoshitsune.

Ushiwakamaru was also the nickname for one of the most famous samurai in Japanese history. Ushiwakamaru had a good friend and faithful vassal who followed him to their deaths. This vassal was a 2 meter tall warrior monk named Benkei. - Season 3's OP and ED are my favorites! I love Burnout Syndrome and I listen to Hikari Are on blast when I need to get pumped up! Like Cara, I really like the outro animation and vibe of the song (Mashi Mashi) is a perfect fit!
